Are you more concerned with getting an answer that makes sense on your terms, or an answer that may not make sense to you but is consistent with the beliefs of that religion--i.e., it makes sense to the religion's followers? Which would you look at as a better answer? (Assuming there is an explanation of the answer as to why it makes sense withing the confines of the religion, that is.)

Withing? Within. "Withing" sounds like a horrible disease.

Personally i'm looking more for something that makes sense to me. If there is something i don't understand or don't know then i want an answer that will make me understand. Not some rhetoric spouted from a book or someones sermon. i could get that anywhere. So for me when i do ask questions i am looking for something that makes sense to me.
Hope this helps.

My best answer is the one that catches me up short, so to speak. That looks at the topic from an angle I haven't thought of. So, for example, I asked a question about Eastern religions and the best answer was from a Christian. It was just something that the person said that caught me and made me look at the question UNIVERSALLY, so to speak.

We are all just pondering the same Divinity after all.

But no, I don't look for affirmation. I don't need it.

The better answer is one that comes from a person who is willing to share their faith without preaching it. The answer should be easy to understand for those who aren't practicing. Knowledge is power...and if I can't understand an answer, I don't have the power to learn about that faith. Answering an honest question in terms not comprehendable to the average joe isn't an answer at all...it is just a way to breed more confusion.

I want an answer that is consistent with the beliefs of the religion but if it is not consistent with my beliefs I will choose to not follow the religion.

What a good question.

I'd always chose the answer that shatters a religion's hold over me.
I'm sure many fundy's would rather have an answer that fits with their view of heaven/hell, and would even reject other answers as false.

I like original answers, I want to hear what a person thinks, not what they've been taught to believe.

i like logical answers to explain why the believer belives as they do ...
i even asked one about why they feel mediums speak with demons...
i wasnt looking to be told differently ( even though i feel differently ) , but why they believe this
i just like to understand , then i can respect their beliefs more
