i wouldnt take any aids if i could help it .. but if you must though , this usually heightens your REM dream sleep and i feel it would reduce astral somewhat

hhmm spirit above says the opposite .. i have found this to be true though ... unless different aids do different things ...
the ones i have found to enhance it has been stress reducing aids

Well, if you're not sleeping your not traveling anyway - so for at least the 1st 1/2 hour of sleep and last 1/2 hour you are sleeping you can still astrally travel. Although, if you do travel in the 1st half hour and then fall into that really deep, Ambian induced sleep you may not wake up where you went to sleep.

"The main barrier to astral travel is you. You need to conquer yourself and clear your mind of thoughts and emotions to be able to successfully astral travel at will."

Most sedatives have an initial calming effect (which then allows sleep) and are used to combat restlessness, pain, etc.

Seems like sleeping aides might make astral travel a lot easier, actually. Unless your body becomes dependent on them; withdrawal symptoms would definitely hamper astral movement.

I would think so. Most sleeping aides do have an effect on the dreaming state. In most cases it makes it so that you can’t reach a deep enough sleep state to acquire astral travel. I would try meditating instead.

I can get away with a little Valerian but anything stronger and I don't dream. Or my dreams are nothing but psychological leftovers of the day. I have to be clean in my system to have my mojo up and running.

I don't astro travel but I receive messages from my spirit guide in my dreams.

Yes any sedative taken will reduce OBE because in OBE mind should be fully conscious whereas sedatives and tranquilizers calm and stun the mind

Since most sleep aides do not allow REM sleep, which is the dream state, I doubt they would allow any other either.

I've only ever travelled as a conscious decision, not while asleep. Never been an issue here.

Never mind the prescription, any drug will liklely increase the chance that you will think you've travelled through the night.
