I have never honestly tried it but a lot of my family members have and it is a huge family fight right now because some of them DO smoke around their kids. I just can't imagine ever putting a child at risk like that or being so selfish.

Congrats on you quitting though. That's very admirable.

I am a parent to three boys and yes i do smoke weed. I use it a couple times a week and I justify it by the fact that my children have NEVER been around it, never smelled it nor seen it. And by the fact that my children have never gone without anything that they have needed and i always make sure their needs are met before my own. I see nothing wrong with parents smoking weed as long as their children are not subjected to it and that they are fully taken care of. I only do it at night when my children are in bed and have been sleeping for a while. I also sit in my bathroom with the exhaust fan on and have air freshener handy so it doesn't seep throughout my house.

I have not used any mood or mind changing stimulants in a long time. I do know of many parents that continue to use smoke, my ex wife for one. My son knows of it but grew up with it and so is not judging of his mother. My daughter in law is not so open minded as she feels that her mother in law is too old to smoke as she is now a grandmother. My two other sons are pretty much chronics with smoke and I have told them in the past and will continue to tell them in the future that I would much prefer they smoke than drink any day as booze makes people do and say things that they often regret later. In Canada smoke is pretty well accepted by police and if found with a small quantity there is only a fine and not a criminal record any longer thank God.

Parent of two, not a smoker but married to one who is going on 7 months of drug and alcohol free. That lifestyle has many different levels of what is and isn't accepted around kids. We know one couple who smoke with their 14 year old son, and have for a year now. They justify it by saying they don't want him "on the streets" LOOKING FOR DRUGS- THAT ITS SAFER IF HE GETS IT AT HOME... I completely disagree. I feel sorry for that boy, he is being set up with a lifetime of problems.

So, congratulations- keep it up.

I quit smoking pot about 2 years after my son was born. I dind't feel right about doing it. Both my parents were alcoholics and did not in any way raise me as sober minded people. I was subjected to verbal and physical abuse. But I think alcohol is more dangerous than pot. Regardless I am very paranoid about losing control of myself and bad things happening to my kids. They are 12 & 8 now.

My husband still smokes though. I gave up trying to change him cause its impossible. I can only fix myself. Sometimes he brags about sneaking out to get high in our shed while the kids are in his care and how clueless they are.

It doesn't make me feel very good when he says stuff like that. It makes me angry.

i smoke pot to fall asleep at night. i have trouble not only falling asleep, but staying asleep. my doctor gave me various prescriptions for sleep aids and none of them worked without some kind of next day residual side effects that i didn't like at all. i work around large animals, and the last thing i need is my reaction time limited due to grogginess. but aside from using it as a sleep aid, i don't partake during the day or recreationally.
congrats on the smoke free year!

Parent- yes. Pothead- no.
What is unfortunate is how many more you could tag if you expanded this question to include alcoholics. I'm afraid selfishness or unresolved dependency is the root cause here.

No, if you are a pot smoker, on a regular basis, you are a loser! There comes a time in your life where you need to grow up and do the right things. Some people can never do this, some are very selfish, and its always about them, them, them!

A gentle loser who sits around their messy house and smokes weed while watching tv, and tries to coerce their dog into getting them a snack.
