My doctor, and many others, suggest that you wait at least 18 months between pregnancies. There is also a time period that is unhealthy if you wait too long (I forget it, though.) You need at least 18 months to heal properly and have your body adjust. Either way - waiting at least that long will help you almost keep your sanity by not having two VERY small kids at one time. Waiting too long can be awkward for you and your kids. I know people who are totally disconnected to much older siblings - or see them more as parents.

My older brother and I are 2 1/2 years apart. My younger brother is exactly 5 years younger than me. That worked out nicely. I'm close to both of them and it's neat growing up together.

We will start trying again when our daugher is 18 months. Be careful, though. If you recently had a baby - remember birth control. My doctor put me on a special type for nursing mothers.

FYI - Time magazine had a huge article on the positive effects of siblings a few months back. It's worth reading - check their website. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1209949,00.html

As for when you "SHOULD"... it's up to you. There are many factors to consider. Good luck.

The space between my first and second is 1 year and 7 months the space between my second and 3rd is 1 year and 7 months lol. Seems to be a pretty good space for me. The only thing is I have 3 boys ages 3 and under. If you have the time I would suggest putting them close together. My lder 2 get a long so well. They will go in their room and play together for hours at a time. There was 4 years between me and my sister and I always hated her being around. She was a "BABY" lol. So I'm glad it isn't like that with my kids lol.

My kids are 9 years apart and I love it however I wouldn't suggest this for everyone. I would have to say 3-4 years is a good wait. It also depends on when you can afford to have another one and when your body is ready. I would also wait until the first one is potty trained before you have another my sister has 2 in diapers and I don't know how she does it!

I too polled a billion friends and fellow mothers... they all suggested 2-3 years apart. I "planned" on 3 years between my son and daughter, however, nature had a different idea... they are 22 months apart. It is a lot of work... I would recommend the 3 year span... get at least one of them out of diapers!!! :)

Every 3 yrs or so is good. I love it. They're at different stages and the oldest one can help set an example by the time the next one is coming.

I would think within between 2 or 3 years.
Well I personally would want them to be close to age in school so they can look out for each other.
