I have decoratiave oil lamps that I also use during power outages. The only lamp oil I can find in our local stores is clear. Does anyone know if it is safe to add food coloring to lamp oil? Thanks!

You would need to use something more oil based, although you don't want it to start giving off odd by-products as it burns, so something that can be used for candles and waxes. You'd probably have to go to your local craft store - but make sure that it's ok to burn. Otherwise try online. I found a quick place http://www.dyes.com/Default.html by using keywords, oil color candle

Food coloring probably will not work as it is water based typically, and all you'll end up with is a clear oil with colored bubbles.

Sure add a small amount of food colouring.
Try it and see how it works.
