I just dont get why people have to be so close minded on this, If I was Tommy Lee telling you about my tattoo's would you listen because i started a musical trend? or how about i tell you Im a professional musician with two arms and a back full of tattoo's, I have meaning behind every single tattoo i have, and my cousin owns a tattoo shop and i love the work that he has done to me....... Why am I Unoriginal then?

Um, who said you were unoriginal??

I have 15 tattoos... none of which have any real deep meaning, I like how they look, they make me feel good about myself, and they make me happy.

I don't think that is unoriginal at all. There are a few people who get tattoos just to get them, and don't put much thought into them, but most people I know who have tattoos have put alot of thought into theirs and have stories or reasons behind them. I think they are great. I personally have one on my lower back that has a long story and alot of meaning behind it. I love it and want more, but I won't get one unless it's well thought out. Some people just don't understand tattoos, and they can be closed minded on them. Don't take it personally and let them get you down. Make up your own mind one way or the other. If your tattoos have meaning and you like them, then enjoy them. Its not really about what others think, although I can tell you I respect that and so do lots of people.

I agree with you (I have 3 of my own tattoos and am currently drawing my fourth), but I'm hoping most people who say stuff like that are talking about the 20 year old girls who go in with a friend and just pick something off the wall so they can match each other - you know, the ones who DO do it because it's a trend. Those are the ones who end up regretting the tattoos.

I don't understand it either. I'm getting ready for my first tattoo, and it has a ton of personal meaning to me. I'm sure your tattoos are personal, because you are obviously proud of them. Go ahead and be proud. You made a decision to go against "the norm", and now you have something beautiful that will last your whole life. How many other people can say that? It's original.

While each individual tattoo can be original and personal for the person getting them, the idea of tattoos themselves aren't original. They've been done for centuries, by numerous different cultures.

Well said! They say tatoos on the lower back are trashy and unoriginal. Well my mum has the albumn cover of Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon', I wonder how many people can say they have seen that before!

Tatoos have been around since the dawn of time, they are a form of art and self-expression and it is only closed minded people that are not able to see that fact. Take care : )
