How do you codify honesty? Define what honesty is and perhaps you will start to find honest people in the world. Since no one truly knows what honesty is, how does one measure if someone is being honest or not?
Honesty is not a simple concept. Just telling the truth is not synonymous with honesty although it is all we ever seem to measure honesty by. The other problem is, when things are bad we tend to not want to be honest because we are afraid we may scare someone.
My answer is, yes i would trust an honest man if you could tell who was honest and who wasn't.

Perhaps the word "HONESTY" defined in dictionary, something like this-" acting honorably and justly, not lying, stealing, or cheating. Truthful, genuine, or fair. An "honest Abe" answer. In an honest manner, thats right...Condition and quality of being honest."
Honor is the worthyiness of ones integritty, I include the uprightness, bringing honor, and being straight forward-honesty today is slipping through many fingers today. One earns honor by being honest in her/his endeavors and being truthful in all modes. What would you do to your children if they lied to you? Honesty, although bent in many forms can cause some problems agreed. Being honest is how I lost my job of 6 years, The "lier got away with it, I didn't!" So again you must understand, "In your own heart you were being truthful" but alas, many forget their morals, when it comes to hosety. Ask your nearest politician!

In politics or in general? Ross Pero was honest and some folks did not like what he had to say. You notice he is not president. Some people are scared of the truth. Good question.

I am not sure I understand your question. I am not sure that there is a link between being honest and being suppressed on the job. I think it is praiseworthy to withstand pressure to be dishonest. I, for one, would certainly support someone who did that.

Being honest doesn't mean one is sensible or moral, so no, I wouldn't support an honest person unless I believed he was also right.
