The Senate voted in May 2006 to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment. Few of them will ever collect a dime since so many of them have used several social security numbers. In addition, most simply wanted to be given a job where they could earn money, and were not concerned with benefits. Few worked the same job long enough, or would have paid enough into it to make much of a difference. We're not talking about illegals who would be collecting anywhere near the 'average' 900.00 per mo. collected by most US citizen retirees.
Illegal aliens have been contributing to social security for decades - total 10 billion at last count, all monies in social security coffers, and available to our government when they need to borrow money. Illegals have still contributed to our society. In fact, many US citizens who are collecting benefits today are collecting from illegal contributions Their contributions are being used to pay YOUR beneifts.

The fact that illegal immigrants pay taxes at all will come as news to many Americans. A stunning two-thirds of illegal immigrants pay Medicare, Social Security and personal income taxes. Yet, nativists like Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have popularized the notion that illegal aliens are a colossal drain on the nation's hospitals, schools and welfare programs — consuming services that they don't pay for.

In reality, the 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified illegal immigrants from nearly all means-tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization. The only services that illegals can still get are emergency medical care and K-12 education.

t, immigrants aren't flocking to the United States to mooch off the government. According to a study by the Urban Institute, the 1996 welfare reform effort dramatically reduced the use of welfare by undocumented immigrant households, exactly as intended. And another vital thing happened in 1996: the Internal Revenue Service began issuing identification numbers to enable illegal immigrants who don't have Social Security numbers to file taxes.

Ok that $10 billion is over a number of years. And a lot of illegal aliens don't pay into social security. If the money coming from them is so significant, why are they still predicting that social security is going to be all gone in the next few decades?

Won't collect a dime? What about the medical, welfare, education and other benefits they get that cost the taxpayers $45 Billion a year. That does not include the cost of Border Patrol, deporting, court cost and everything else that has to do with immigration enforcement. So by your figures, they are costing the U.S $35 Billion a year.

My taxes are being used to pay benefits for criminals. MSNBC done a special on illegal immigration, that's where the $45 Billion a year in "social services" they recieve a year came from. So in fact they do not pay for my benefits. In fact WE have to ADD $35 Billion a year to support them! Put ALL the facts out there.

What I want to know is how you can use fake social security to pay into and expect to get something from it. The reason i know they are fake is because you said it yourself. You said many have used several different social security numbers. I'm sorry to inform you of this, but citizens of this country are allowed only one social security number. This number keeps track of all your income you've made for your entire life. How is the government supposed to keep track of a person with several different S.S. numbers? They refuse to pay illegals because they don't know who's lying about their income. The way i see it, is this is the plan. Illegals want to be able to collect social security so they can lie about their income so they can bring home more. Seeing how they exploit of all the othe rbenefits this country has to offer at the taxpayers' expense. I know how their minds work. You want social security, do it the legal way. Plain and simple.

Yeah, so I guess that excuses the fact that they stole the social security numbers, meaning that when Joe Smith filed his income taxes, claiming $50,000 in income, he got audited because 20 illegals were using his social security number, meaning AFA the IRS is concerned he made an additional $400,000. Yeah, screw Joe Smith because these illegals are hard-*working* criminals and adding to our coffers!

And let's not even bother to talk about the amount of money we spend on social services paying for them.

Stop trying to defend criminals, all right? There's no defense and there's no excuse.

Come over here to my local social security office and see the people there and then try to convince me that they are all citizens. You'll think there is no way possible that they are. Oklahoma's legislation 1804 is saving that state hundreds of millions every year and there unemployment is less than the national average. The federal government should follow their lead.

Please site your sources.I know that some illegals use fake, stolen or shared Social Security numbers. So they cant and shouldn't collect anything because they are committing a crime first by being here ,next by working and lastly by using fraudulent identification. While you do have a few facts ,what you are saying is not all facts .So please post your link to the information.
I do agree with bubbles! I found this it may be of interest.

SSI, or Supplemental Security Income, is a federal cash benefit program for persons 65 or older, or those who are blind or have a disability. SSI payments are generally unavailable to most people already receiving Social Security benefits, though an individual may be able to receive both if combined household income and resources fall within the SSI limits. Besides cash payments, persons who are eligible for SSI are automatically eligible for most state-administered Medicaid programs.
SSI is funded through the payroll taxes of Americans. But you don't have to be an American to receive SSI payments. Like food stamps, Medicaid and almost every other form of social insurance that America has developed to help its citizens, SSI is targeted by people from other countries as a tool to materially improve their lives without work.

The 1996 Welfare Reform Act may have erected barriers to a non-citizen's eligibility for SSI, but it did not come close to ending it. The very group Congress sought to make ineligible for SSI, people who may have entered the U.S. illegally but through a series of happy accidents permanently reside here under color of law ("PRUCOL" aliens), has been able to hold on to SSI eligibility through a combination of lawyering and lobbying.

Ok, Im not saying that this isnt true... but I dont understand how this is possible.

If they are illegal, that means that they dont have a Green Card or Social Security Number. If they dont have a Social Security Number, they cannot pay income tax (from which Social Security is derived). Typically, illegals are paid in cash "under the table." If they are illegal, and using a Social Security number and paying taxes... thats fraudulent and illegal in itself.

So, like I said... I just dont get it...

so they should be rewarded for breaking the law i find it hard to believe that so much money was paid in yet social security is going broke. if they became legal that will be their next agenda besides higher wages so i don't see how they will be so beneficial more like a leech that will never stop. meanwhile mexico will grow more corrupt and richer as a result of all the bleeding hearts. and more people will want out of that corrupt country it will be a ugly cycle until we grow the kanungas to say no more !

Well, it would be a little hard for them to collect since they went to the trouble of using false identities to pay into the system wouldn't it?
I suppose if they were worried about their social security benefits that they would have entered this country legally and properly identified themselves- that is how the rest of America claims their benefits. Do these illegal aliens not have the option to enter this country legally and to identify themselves honestly?

Sorry- but crime ain't supposed to pay- honey
