Run MSCONFIG and edit your startup options.

Also check the Startup folder on your Program menu.

go to run, type in msconfig, go to startup, click disable all, then apply, ok and restart your computer

should spped things up a bit too, good luck

start, control panel, PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE, Scedualed tasks. turn them off there.
