After seeing a guy for 2 1/2 months, he asked if I could give him some time. He said he was not sure what he wanted--he needed to figure out where he was going before he could figure out what he wanted. He said he has not felt happy and has been worried and stressed out due to other events in his life (work, worries about his children, etc.). He tends to be a worrier.

1) Is it better for me that he asked for some TIME rather than saying that he wanted SPACE?
2) How much time would a guy need to "figure out what he wants." I know he's got a number of things in his life straightened out since we toned things down.

P.S. It's been 3 1/2 weeks since I started "giving him some time." We've been in contact, but not every day like before. We've talked about 50% less than previously and have seen each other about 70% less than before.

My advice to you is to start dating again. Never wait on a guy to "make up his mind" or take time or have some space. It all means the same thing, he isn't INTO YOU like you are INTO HIM. I know this is hard, but trust me, when a guy likes you/loves you, he will move heaven and earth to stand next to you for 10 minutes if thats all the time you have available for him. He will not need, space, time or distance, or a break. No, he will be concerned you, the hot property that you are, will find someone if he takes his eyes off you for 20 minutes, so no, run don't walk to the next exit and start looking for Mr. New, this one is on the skids! Good luck me dear!

They are the same, lady. All you've got to do is throw him off your mind, and find someone who's more interesting than your "WORRIER" guy. Look, it's his lost, not yours. When a guy says "Give me some time" it literally means "Your acted clingy and needy, but I'm polite that's why I dont like to hurt yuo, so I'll just say "give me sometime" for yuo to out my way politely." Sounds "ouch" for you, but you have to accept this fact.

it depends on how old u are. when ur younger like middle school and maybe high school it means the same thing. but when u get older "will u go out with me" is just a date to see if they would wanna be ur boyfriend/girlfriend.

I think that it really doesn't matter which he said. I think he just don't want to go out at the moment.. Maybe it is time he needs..but i think its better that he said he needed time then he wanted space..because space is saying he wants room to do what he wants and that probablly wouldn't be that good.

Both phrases effectively mean the same thing....and neither of them usually bode very well. You may want to consider moving on, I'm afraid.

This is hard but, he's on his way out the door for good. He's just being a coward about it! There's someone out there better for you than him. Go find him!!! Good luck!

They both mean the same thing. "I want out but don't know how to tell you that." Find someone else.
