I don't think so. However, if you are in higher education, you may be more suseptable.
There is a link between high concentration levels and strain with myopia.

People with myopia are known to be a bit smarter than others.
So it may have something more to do with what you've been doing during your life rather than something which was inflicted at birth.

No the most common cause is developemtal issues of the muscles in the eyes that control the lens.
