Above answer by Sherenina is 100 % correct if you want go there by car. If you instead need to take a train the distance is around 65 kms and it will take approx. 1 hour time depending on the train connections. In fact from Pisa airport (there is a train terminal over there) you must take any train direction FIRENZE SMN but then you need to stop at the intermediate station of EMPOLI and take a different train directed to SIENA (Certaldo is abt. 20 Kms far from Empoli and 20 Kms prior to SIENA). The train during the day is the easiest mean to travel (too much traffic and narrow ways by car) while by night time there is practically no service. About 70 km. From airport, you can drive in street "Fi-Pi-Li" (Firenze-pisa-livorno) and follow Firenze's direction. Then, you can exit at "Empoli Ovest" and follow Siena's indications for 35 km.

It's an hour and a half by train. Change at Pisa Centrale and usually at Empoli.
