if you get a tattoo anywhere it is going to hurt. why does everybody keep asking if it will hurt? most people experience some discomfort and pain during a tattoo. there is no way that i can tell you just how much it will hurt you.

Um, the lower back hurts some. It depends on how your pain tolerance is. People say the ankle is one of the most painfullest places to get a tattoo at because its right on the bone, but I verily even felt it. The lower back, let's put it this way. My mom cried when I peirced her upper ear. When my dad did her tattoo she didn't cry, she said it didnt hurt that bad and she has one on her lower back. MY MOMS THE BIGGEST WHIMP, and she went through it, and so have thousands of others my dads tattooed! The main part that hurts of any tattoo really, is the outlining! In the end you'll look at it, and be happy, and amazed. It's really not that painful! Just make sure it's something you'll want forever, when your 50 - 60 - 70 - 80 and so on. Don't get something, unless you know you'll want it forever, because to have it removed is VERY expensive. Good luck!

Girl let me just tell you to make sure it is something that you LOVE and can live with. My first tattoo was on my lower back and it was cute a heart with words curved over it, they said Pain is Love. Well time went on and I was trying to be grown and get it covered up with something bigger. The first tattoo hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Now the cover up damn near killed me the more detail and the more color equals MORE PAIN!!! He had to go deeper because it was a cover up, and it is a big butterfly so it has alot of detail and color. I have another one on my ankle and that one didn't hurt to much either.
So after all of that yes it will hurt, but remember the bigger, more detail, and more color means more pain...

All tattoos hurt.
It's a needle pushing ink into your skin.
My first tattoo was on my lower abdomen, and I didn't think it was bad at all.
My second tattoo was on my lower back, and it was a completely different feeling, and I thought the pain was considerably worse, but nothing I couldn't sit through.
The bottom line is: If you want a tattoo, get it. You shouldn't be worried about the pain. Worry about whether you really want it put on your body permanently.

Depends on how much tolerance for pain you have (or don't have). Put it this way, it feels like a hot blade slicing your skin on the same area over and over again. Pretty nasty. Just remember mind over matter and don't get a big one. If you can give birth to a child then getting tattooed is a breeze.

All honesty! It depends on your level of pain. I have one on my back..you know at the bottom just above the "lowrise" jean line and I hurt like you would not believe. My older sister got one right after me in the same spot on her back and she said she barely felt a thing..so it just depends on you, but I will tell you this..the more you tense up, the more it will hurt..the pain was intense for me, but when I relaxed it didn't hurt as much..still bad, but not as bad as before..
