the reason i dont want to be with her is because a friend of ours told me she didnt want a good relationship she just wants a fling with me.and that hurt

just be honest and let her know that you just want her to be happy and that you feel that you're not the one to make her happy. have her acknowledge that she could see that the relationship isn't working out. make it a mutual decision as much as possible.

There's really no easy way of doing it..without hurting her..but it sounds to me..like you don't want to hurt her intentionally..so just tell her nicely that you just don't feel the chemistry between the two of you is right at this time..and that you think you should start seeing other people..I mean either way she's going to get hurt..but letting her down gently won't hurt her as much

Be honest with her, tell her straight out but don't ever, ever say the old "we can still be friends" When ever a girl said that to me I was always like WTF we weren't friends before I met you and we aren't going to be after!
