Believe all the pictures you see of lungs that contain COPD or cancer. I have two of those lungs. I cannot breathe without oxygen 24/7. Smoking is so addicting that if I was told today that I had one week to live, I would buy a carton of cigarettes!!

It is a horrible death. Remember something that I refused to, "it is not the quantity of life, but the quality of life". I do not have any quality of life.

Nicotine is the the most addicting drug there is, don't use it. It should not be legal. At least that would make it more difficult for young people to use.

By the way, I did quit smoking, but not until it was too late.

Not a quote, but my grandfather has Black Lung from mining coal for over 40 years. He did it to support his wife and four kids, and he raised 4 great sons. All of them are college educated, and very successful, which doesn't happen much with coal miner's families in West Virginia.

I wish that people who smoke could spend 1 hour with my grandfather to see what he is going through with his Black Lung... and he did it because he HAD to support his family, not because he wanted to look cool, or for a habit. He is on oxygen, and must use a nebulizer hourly. A simple cold could put him down for weeks, or kil him.
