There is a book available to buy. It tells you everything you need to know. Liking dogs is only a small part. You will need to be licenced by the local council, get a good vet on board and have regular inspections from the council. It is a bonus also if you can groom and clip or if not, employ a groomer to come in once a week etc. It's hard work and 365 days a year. No more holidays. You also have to deal with people who book their dogs in and then don't come back to collect it. The book should be of immense help to you and I have posted a link below.
Does the kennels have a good reputation? If it has a bad one, you will have a lot of hard work on your hands to turn it around. I suggest you do lots of advertising locally to let people know it has changed hands and if you can get listed in the 'good kennels and cattery guide' you should do ok.

i think u may need an animal care certificate or somethink. and the kennel around here r rubbish like with the long haired dogs they always come home with all the fur matted because the people at the kennels never touched them with a brush. some of the dogs we get in the shop ( i work in a dog groomers) is horrorid once a chow chow came in we had to take all the fur off around the dogs neck because the kennels didnt brush the dog and all the the fur matted up and got the collar stuck in the fur. that poor dog. so i tip for ya try n brush the dogs with longer hair while they are on there holidays :D. good luck on getting the kennel u want.

Make sure you have all the suppliers first. Their are a lot of hidden items you need to properly run a dog kennel. Secondly you do need licencing and zoning depending on your area. If this is an already run dog kennel they may already have the necessary licences to be transferred. Call around to some other kennels to see if they will help you out with some questions. Some kennels will be arrogant and see you as a threat, others will want to help as in their minds as it would be in mine, you going to do it if I help you or not so why not help?

I believe to run a kennels you have to be licenced with the local authorities, speak to environmental health and the local council better still the people selling should be able to give you all details.
good luck should you go ahead

hiya. in my view, i could stay away from a kennels in any respect expenditures. even nevertheless there are some sturdy kennels accessible, MANY are a techniques much less then super. maximum kennels domicile the dogs interior the pens 24/7, in basic terms taking them out for one or 2 short walks an afternoon. no longer sturdy sufficient in my view incredibly for dogs that's used to living in a house. even nevertheless some canines adapt at as quickly as, maximum do no longer and locate being kenneled a depressing journey. i think of in the journey that your pal has in no way been around different canines (the consistent barking may well be VERY stressful for a dogs who has in no way been around different canines) and he has in no way been kenneled it may be aggravating for him. So of course, that leaves the puppy sitter. i could hire a puppy sitter to return and stay on your place with pal for the 4 days you would be away. be certain you utilize a puppy sitter with journey and references. i does no longer worry bearing directly to the certainty that he may well be hectic with human beings. in the journey that your puppy sitter is experienced, he/she would be waiting to coax pal around, I assure it. pal would be plenty extra delicate staying in his very own residence and you have a peace of suggestions. terrific of luck!

You should contact your local council or another kennels (although perhaps not local) to ask what you will need. Another person that might be able to help is your local vet. Good luck.
