I've heard and used the word "merde" for almost all my life. All the dancers I know use it as well. It's a french term just like all the ballet terms are: pas de deux, for example.
I think it comes from a response to actor's saying "break a leg" -- which some people believe means, "take so many bows your legs hurt". Since you'd never wish a dancer to break a leg another rather dark expression was needed. Merde probably began in America where english is the main language, the dancers feeling smug with their knowledge of french used it as an inside joke -- which remains true today.
Merde!
Good luck!

"Merde" (s h i t) is mainly used in french before an actor or a dancer goes on stage. The artistic field is filled with superstitious beliefs and wishing somebody "merde", bad luck, would make the opposite happen, just as wishing luck could end up in a real mess.

I haven't heard of people saying merde in that context, I guess it is a French thing. I assume it's for the same reason English speakers say 'Break a leg' to wish people luck before going onstage. Saying 'good luck' openly is said to be unlucky

I've never heard of someone saying "merde" before a performance, although I do know people say "break a leg", just to be funny and wish them "bad luck" when they're really just joking. "Merde" is French for "sh*t", so I could see how it would mean the same as "break a leg".

For proper functioning and keeping in mind the system restore files you will have to spare out 60 gb as you are running Vista, and that leaves 226-60 = 166 GB. I take the average size of songs to be 5 mb* so you can store 166000/5 = 33200 songs in the hard drive. people haev mentioned above that one files stored do not affect the computers performance, i think they have not heard of the term VIRTUAL MEMORY and SYSTEM RESTORE, for in my pc i have set at lest 1 gb as virtual memory and many gb of system resotre files.
