annualcreditreport.com is the official site. freecreditreport.com is currently under investigation by Florida's attorney general for misleading consumers into "signing up" for what they THOUGHT was a free credit report, but in fact is a subscription service.

You can go to www.annualcreditreport.com or go directly to experian, trans union and equifax's sites individually. It is federal law that you can obtain a free report per company per calendar year. To get the score, you will have to pay a small fee (usually $8-10) to have the score added to your free report.
