How many highlights do most young teens get with light brown hair. Do they get lots on the top or just some in the middle. I am 13 and i have a mousey brown coloured hair, i am getting highlights done. How do you suggest i should get them, i only want higlights but enough to make me look blonde with my hair down. What should i tell the hairdresser?

Instead of just highlights, why don't you have the hairdresser colour just the top portion of your hair. That is all the hair within one inch of your normal part. This will ensure that all your top hair is lighter, making your hair appear to be lighter while it is down, but if you draw it back into a ponytail, it will look like you have a blonde skunk streak right down the middle of your head.

If I were doing your hair, I would highly suggest only afew high lights to begin with, because they can always be added again later. You must remember two very important things 1. As they grow out the new growth is your brown hair. Thats why once one begins high lighting it is an ongoing coloring. So you do not want to start with very many. 2. You are 13 years old not 23. Frankly, your quite fortunate that your family is allowing you this, as a gift.
Hope you like the new look!!!
