As far as I know - Don't worry the difference is that the tablets are immediate release (so the full dose enters your blood stream straight away), the capsules are modified release (the dose is slowly released over time). I was prescribed the tablets initially but I had side effects of feeling sick and dizzy, when I took the capsules I did not have any side effects. So I doubt it would effect you in anyway with regard to the reason your taking them - depression I assume. Help this answers your question.

Modified release may be the explanation for how you are feeling... They are now all the rage with Doctors... Allowing a few weeks and you should adjust to the new style medication... If however things become absolutely desperate... Then tell your Doctor and get them to prescribe the generic release tablets although these now are only manufactured in the 2x37.5mg dosage...

Does it say XL on the box?... If so they are modified release.. Whilst the usual Effexor work over the short term...

The modified release do not work for all individuals so make sure to be assertive with your Doctor... It's your health after all!!

I used to take them. I was prescribed the slow release capsules and was once given the tablets by mistake which made me violently ill. Check with your doctor because there is likely to be a good reason you are on the tablets rather than the capsules.

I was on the capsules myself and wasn't aware there were tablets. Not sure what the difference could be, but maybe the tablets are slow release ones or something. There shouldn't be any big difference between them. Get the pharmacist to explain it to you though. Good luck. You may be feeling less well because you know that now and it may have increased your anxiety, but maybe there is a real difference.

Effexor 75 mg do come in capsules if they are the extended release. You need to check on your prescription bottle and see if it says Effexor 75 mg XR and if so that means it is just releasing in your body in small doses at a time. I am on effexor and my medicine is xr and they are capsules..
