Since the suns rays can be blocked by dust, clouds formed by volcanic eruptions or pollution what short and long term effects will this have on photosynthesis?

well, technically if the obstruction blocks all the sunlight it will comletely stop photosynthesis. untill the sunlight can again penetrate through to the plant doing the photosynthesizing. This is actually one of the main theories of how the dinosaurs went extinct.

None on the long term ,how did the oil,gas and coal get there in the first place. mother nature recycles our air and and our fossil fuels and have done it for several million years.
