how can you tell if your ex still cares for you,

we have been apart for 7 yrs and we have a daughter together who is almost 8. no phone calls no letter nothing at all untill a month ago when he walked back into our lives

we both went our own ways , i was 6 months prgo and he was not ready to be a dad, i live in texas and he lives in oregon, he says that he wants to come here and see both of us, and talking about everthing that we did back then

Who broke up with who & how long were you together for? If he broke up with you I would not read into everything he says or does because he may just be trying to be nice because he feels bad.If you broke up with him or it was mutual, give him some space and see it he trys to contact you.Just read the details, I would be really carefull, this guy waited a really long time and it sounds like he wasnt really a part of your lives,who is to say he wouldnt leave again?This time would be much worse because your daughter is old enough to understand more of whats going on.Ask yourself what motivated him to contact you after all this time?If he claims he loves you he would not have waited so long, think about it if you loved someone would you have waited 7 years? If he cares for you or not is not really the big question, do you care enough about him & trust that he wont hurt run out and your child again?
