If there was a Heaven and God says "I know you did not believe in me, but if you accept me now and confess your sins you may enter in the paradise that is laid for you, just give me all of you". Will you do it? Will you give it a try if? I know I'm being a pain, but humor me. For one minute.

Well, first off, you are assuming that just because someone doesn't believe in your religion that they don't "confess their sins". That's a rather large assumption as I know many Non-Christians ( I am a Believer, just not in your religion) who confess to doing something wrong and, at the very least, apologize for it.

Also, if the image of your God is Real, taken directly from the Bible and the general description most Christians give... He already KNOWS why I don't believe.... He already understands exactly what I feel.

You're not really being a pain, I just think you assume a bit too much of other people simply because they don't believe as you do.

Too late then....

I’ll wait until I am old, then I’ll get right with God."

You may not get the chance. God may just lose patience with you and end your life. Perhaps you don’t think He would do such a thing. Then read Genesis 38:7 to see how God killed a man who was wicked. Jesus told of a man who boasted that he had so many goods that he would have to build bigger barns. God called the man a fool and took his life that night.

Those who say they will repent in their own time lack the fear of God. Their understanding of His nature is erroneous. If they caught a glimpse of His holiness, His righteousness, and His consuming justice, they wouldn’t trifle with His mercy. Such arrogance needs to be confronted with the thunders of Mount Sinai. He is not wise who thinks he can outwit his Creator, enjoy a lifetime of sin, and repent at the last minute. Deathbed repentance is very rare. God killed a husband and wife because they told a lie (Acts 5:1–10). He lost patience with them. Most people think that God’s patience is eternal. It evidently is not.

The Bible says that it is through the fear of the Lord that men depart from sin (Proverbs 16:6). If they don’t fear God, they will be complacent about their eternal salvation (Matthew 10:28).

Let me turn it around on you.

If there was an Afterlife as the Egyptians believed and Anubis says "I know you did not believe in me, but if you accept me now and confess your sins you may enter the afterlife that is laid for you, just give me all of you" Will you do it? Will you let him weigh your heart against the feather of Ma'at to pass into the afterlife?

Think about how you react to that scenario, and you may understand how non-Christians react to your question.

Actually, your question does bring up the one major reason why I am not a Christian. This is the fact that in order to be born again, one must first die to the self and hand their free will over to God. I choose to retain my free will, for better or for worse.

So, y'know, nice idea, but no. If Satan is anything like Milton portrayed him, I think he'll understand, what with the whole "better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven" bit.

If I was looking at the christian god, and I was staring at it eye to eye... maybe. But I'm not really ashamed of some of the things you people call sins. I'm human, and I enjoy them. Especially adultery (cuz that one covers a lot- like premarital sex- I'm not ashamed of that... well, not in most cases)- I would be more ashamed of being married to one woman and wanting 3 others that I am not allowed to touch- and I do like variety. You don't actually expect me to try to return every odd object I find laying on the ground- especially money- do you? that's technically stealing and greed... Lust? forget it! if my neighbor has a nice round... nevermind- I'm gonna look, I'm gonna flirt, I'm gonna wanna hit that- sorry, got me there... While you're at it, mark me down for vanity- cuz chix dig the clean, well primped look, so there goes vanity. Not to mention that I like to eat, and when I do- I pig out... so I'm a glutton sometimes! I won't kill anyone- but apparently pleasure and pain are equally sinful in this case.

You know what? I'm not ashamed of ANY OF IT- in fact, I worked hard to be able to do these things. I like them. On second thought, the lifestyle imposed upon people by the bible is too restrictive, so I guess I wouldn't- I would probably punch him in the face for giving humans the desire to do all of these things- then telling us not to, and then punishing us for not fessin up!

If that god was real- I guess I would resent it and eventually hate it for taking all the fun out of living on earth.

If this did happen and I met this "God" fellow then I would not believe in it because it would be in front of me. That's like saying I believe in the keyboard I'm typing on. I wouldn't confess any sins because I don't know of any. That sin nonsense is just nonsense.

Pascal's wager. Flawed. Belief is not a choice, it is the logical conclusion of one's experiences.

Pascal's wager says: if there is no god, believer and nonbeliever are equal, but if there is a god, belief wins and nonbelief loses.

Pascal's wager does not take into account that there are more gods in human experience than just YHVH. Some of those gods would be upset with followers of YHVH, so followers of YHVH are taking a huge risk too (they might end up in another religion's hell).

Further, no one chooses their beliefs. You believe what your experiences tell you is true. To 'believe' just to win a bet is hypocracy, and according to the Bible, YHVH hates hypocracy, so I'd be condemned to hell either way.

Not exactly a loving god you have there, you know? If I don't believe, I go to hell, but I don't choose what I believe, that's a consequence of my experience (and he refuses to give a clear and direct experience), and if I at least try to pay lipservice, he hates me even more.
