It does not say trans fat free. What it says is 0 grams per serving. You must read the label carefully. What the food manufactures say is that a serving of their product contains no trans fat. This is not true. Trans fat is considered to be 3-4 times as bad for your heart as saturated fats. They get away with this by putting on the label 0 grams . Hydrogenated oils are trans fats and should be avoided. It's hard because it extends the shelf life of their products. Don't take it when possible.

Hydrogenated oils mean that there are no unsaturated bonds in the fat. when something is unsaturated it can be in two possible formations trans- or cis-. Trans fats are bad, we all know that. but when something is hydrogenated it means that in the chemical make up of the fat that there is a - bond(single) instead of a =bond(double). The single bond fats are called "saturated fats" and can be just as bad for you.

Trans fats are not the same thing as hydrogenated oils, but they're all very bad for you, so don't let them fool you. Just don't eat the stuff.
