Does anyone have or know where I can find the recipe for the bread pudding they serve at Old Country Buffet? It is REALLY good and I want to know what it is and I can not find it anywhere. I think they make it with cinnamon rolls...but not sure. Also I love the icing that goes on top.....Any ideas????

My daughter worked there on weekends when she was in high school, it is actually called Hometown Bread Pudding.....enjoy
Hometown Bread Pudding
8 slices white bread, cut up
8 cinnamon rolls with glaze,
cut up
1?2 cup raisins
Base Mix
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1?4 cup sugar
1?4 cup butter melted
1?2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or more
1 teaspoon vanilla
Bread Pudding Sauce
3?4 parts prepared vanilla pudding
1?4 part warm water
1 dash vanilla
Beat eggs and milk, stir in sugar, butter, cinnamon and vanilla.
Take a 13x9 pan and spray with Pam. Place the cinnamon rolls in a layer on bottom of pan, add raisins, then layer the bread on top.
Next, add the base and press down until all the air bubbles have disappeared. If any raisins are on the surface, push under bread. Place in a 325 degree oven for 45 minutes or until internal temperature is at 200 degrees.
Top with 12 ounces of sauce and enjoy!

Bread pudding is easy to make and you can vary the ingredients for what you ahve on hand.
You need Bread or biscuits
sugar
eggs
vanilla
milk
any flavoring you like - cinnamon, pumpkin, cocoa
If you are making for one person then use 2 biscuits or 6 to 8 slices of bread. Double or triple according to the number of people you are feeding.
Crumble the bread into a large mixing bowl.
Sprinkle the flavoring over the bread and mix well. ( this helps the flavoring adhere to the bread and not settle on top )
Add 1/2 cup sugar ( if making a large serving then use 1 full cup )
Add 2 eggs ( use 2 or 3 eggs depending on the size of the serving ) and mix well
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla
Pour enough milk in to make a very soupy mix.
Pour into a greased pan and bake at 375 degrees until toothpick comes out clean. ( Usually an hour )
If using Cocoa then use 1/4 to 1/2 cup cocoa and 1 full cup sugar
If using pumpkin- use 1/2 cup mashed pumpkin and use 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie seasoning
If you want cinnamon pudding then use 1 Tablespoon cinnamon mixed into 1 cup sugar
As I said you can vary this to any flavor but cinnamon is my favorite.

Crockpot Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding
INGREDIENTS:
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 1/4 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups 1-inch bread cubes
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins or chopped dates
PREPARATION:
In medium mixing bowl, combine eggs with milk, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, bread, sugar, and raisins or dates. Pour into 1 1/2-quart baking or souffle dish which fits in your slow cooker. Place metal trivet (or aluminum foil shaped in a ring to keep the dish off the bottom of the pot) or rack in bottom of crockpot.
Add 1/2 cup hot water to the crockpot. Set the baking dish on trivet or foil ring. Cover and cook on high for about 2 hours, until set. Serve bread pudding warm or cool, with sauce of your choice or plain.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
