Is a Finnish Spitz A Great Family Dog?

Question

for those who dont know what a Finnish Spitz are, its a breed in the Akita bloodline and has a curly tail and is just much smaller and much more sweeter looking than the Akita.

barking doesnt bother me, we live far away from people out in like country oldtime hehe, I just think they are so beautiful and want one so badly, are they very expensive? I already know they are hard to find in Maine, I am still looking for a close breeder to drive to and get one, I had a Shiba Inu which is the same breed only smaller and a little different in color and she barked alot but only when she was upset and wanted to be with me.

I know I can train one I had a Shiba Inu and they are of strong mind breed, and I have a little terror mini dachshund that is fairing as hard to train at the time and I lost my patience once because he peed on me when I corrected him and it grossed me out so I yelled at him for doing it, feel horrable for it but have learned to get better by just watching him and trying to figure out on what he is thinking of and its great that they seem to love horses alot because I am opening a Horse Training/Lesson buisness pretty soon and am glad they are not panst dogs like the mini dachshunds, my mini saw a horse put his tail between his legs yelped like he had been zapped to death and ran with his tail between his legs, I need a good strong obedient dog at my side that will protect in time of need and also be a great family pet, my mini stands up to nothing on any of those wants and needs I have.

so your telling me a book is wrong in info when if you go to the AKC website it tells you in there book and on the website that they are in the same breed bloodline.

They do tend to bark a lot (they are called the Barking Bird Dog of Finland), can be challenging to train, males especially can get very dog aggressive and they're slow to mature. They're also very loyal, playful, like spending time with their families and are good with kids. Also tend to be good with other pets if raised with them. Thy would be a good family dog provided you can taje the barking and are knowledgeable enough to train a strong (mentally) breed.

A Finnish Spitz is in no way related to an Akita or a Shiba. Akitas and Shibas are both Japanese breeds whereas the Finnish Spitz is not. The temperament of these breeds are very different. Though it resembles a Shiba in color, it does not possess the same traits. The only information I have about the Finnish Spitz is that yes they are big barkers........Shibas are not.

To clarify, they are all considered to be Spitz breeds however they are from different places.

All ur candidate dogs need alot of exercise but the daily run should be enough Really any of those breeds...you need to train your dog to be loyal and not run away, every dog is different no matter what breed you may get a golden or lab or whatever and he/she may be a barker it depends on he dog not the breed,also u won't b able to get a puppy u won't go 2 the bathroom in the house(that takes training),if u don't have a fence consider a runner or a leash that attach to a tree or sum thing crate training really isn't that bad, but only 3 hours a big dog should b able to hold it in till some ones home, but puppies on the other hand are alot of work and need lots of attention and training because the dog u described that you want takes training no matter the breed my breed suggest is...german shepherd,Golden or flat coated retriever, any type of lab, collie, Australian shepherd,boxer, great dane,pitt bull(i know what you are thinking they r mean) but actual do better on temperment test then popular dog breeds they r a breed that loves to please[that ppl use them to fight because thy will do anything if they r pleasing there owner...they don't have to fight they r great house pets too...srry if i sound like i'm preaching i just feel bad there breed has a bad rep.) are sum good chioces...but reALLY any breed can ba great dog soo what u decribed takes training and really any breed hope i help :]

I had one as a young child. He was wonderful. Easy to house break. When he had to go out he sneezed or rang the bell on the slider. He went following along on horse trail rides and shows all over. Was not a barker but I have heard this breed could be. I think that he was just happy with himself and the attention he got so he just was never bad. Died at the age of 14. Great breed.

Yeah they are good dogs but you have to be careful about not getting one that has been inbred. The problem with all purebred dogs now days.
Why not go to the animal shelter and adopt a deserving puppy or dog to love and care for? You can say what you want to but mixed breed mutts make the best dogs. they are smarter and usually have better personalities.
