I love your question....
Now I finally get a chance to show a side that a non-believer can see..
I did not grow up in a family that had a belief system..
But yet something was there that pushed me
I had no formal education on GOD
But yet something pushed me...
I should have been dead atleast 4 times over
But yet I am still here and each time something pushed me...
*I used to be a fence person . In the sense that I believed in a GOD but I wasn't really gonna give up anything just to believe..
Which of course I found out later that really the opposite is true.. You really don't give up that much..
Because this world doesn't have much to offer anyway..
*I tried Budda, New Age. Sooo many self-help books that my mind started to get confused as to what was true..
*I have read the Quran...And read on Hindu beliefs...
*I have gone it alone and investigated every possible scientific fact that life was not created ...I have read the BIBLE and correlated those facts with science...
* I have done everything possible to make sure what I was doing was indeed the right thing...
* I have lived on both sides of the railroad tracks.. I have been homeless, and did alot of other things that I am not proud of BUT thankful that I did do these things because without them , I wouldn't be where I am ...
My Belief system was not born on just reading the BIBLE and taking its words as gold..
I questioned everything ..I researched everything ( and I still am researching and studying :))of course now because I want to learn and not because I am trying to find a hole in the BIBLE.
My conclusions....
No way that our existence just is...
No big bang theory... ( that has been disproven by more than just one scientist )
The probability that the predictions of the BIBLE are wrong is impossible . Why because some of the predictions dated before the events ever happened...
Every prediction in the BIBLE that has thus far came true is impossible on a factual scale of precentages to happen.. In other words.. A phychic cannot make predictions 100% of the time and be correct.. They will be lucky if they get one right and thats probably chance...
But yet , if you read the prediction in the BIBLE ( especially the ones that have already happened) what are the odds that ALL of them have came true?? Like a zillion to 1...
DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ELSE WITH THAT KIND OF ODDS??
I believe because there is indesputabel proof that GOD does exist..
JESUS DID WALK THIS EARTH..FACTS CANNOT LIE..
WITNESSES DO NOT TELL LIES
Besides , who in there right mind would die for another human being all soley based on 1 fact ...
That they believed in JESUS...
WOULD ANY OF US DO THE SAME???
They seen JESUS . they walked with him, ate with him, communed and were taught by JESUS.... They knew him INTIMATELY...
SOOO...
WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DIE FOR A MAN IF HE WASN'T WHO HE SAID HE WAS AND STILL IS..
It just begs to be answered....
So why do I believe :
1st because of proof...
2nd because of my heart
One day I just had enough.. Enough of running and searching when all I had to do was stop and look.. Listen and hear,, GOD WAS RIGHT THERE AND I JUST KEPT MISSING HIM...
after I was saved , my life changed and I didn't even try to change it . It just did..
Things in my life are not what they once were..
My prayers are answered
My family life is better
My life has meaning
Its not a meaningless belief .. Its based on more than Faith alone.. Its based on Faith and Truth...
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that if you do not believe or you sit on the fence like I did, Life is not as AWESOME as it is with JESUS....
I have been to both sides and been as close to hell as I care to get...
and to me
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY....THE DOOR IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU .. JUST KNOCK AND HE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU..
LISTEN AND YOU WILL HEAR ...
I am not a fanatic to non-believers .. I understand who and where they are comin from...But I am just me and I cannot bring anyone to JESUS .. he alone does that but I can Pray ...
And pray I do..
SORRY THIS IS SOOOO LONG :)
Ya stirred my soul and I just had to get it out....

My beliefs have given me what I need to go through life and be a better person. My beliefs make me take responsibility for my actions and to think things through. My beliefs have made me a far more spiritual person than I was before, and allow me to accept what I cannot change.
I do not believe in any deities. I am not atheist. I would probably side more with agnosticism because that same critical thinking that some self-proclaimed atheists hide behind also tells me that making an absolute statement that there is NOTHING in the universe is just as unprovable as the existence of God.
Then again, why should I place myself into any particular group anyway? I'm just ME.

I actually have a religion as people call it, but I don't believe in the things the religion says in its entirety. If I believe it straight away, I wouldn't be analysing things, I will just take things for granted. But I wouldn't and shouldn't take the teaching of the religion as true and can't be changed.
What I have actually is faith, but not the type of faith that most people have. This faith is just like something that motivates me to start examining the teachings of my religion, not the core of the practice of the religion itself.
So far the teachings of my religion are not in conflict with what I've seen or experienced, but there are more to be explored and I think it's in my nature not to take things for granted, I need to analyse things first, so I think this is why I chose my religion. I'm pretty sure different people will have different reasons though.

I looked at all the religions-I even studied Christianity for a year at university- but I couldn't accept their theology or dogma. When I looked at Buddhism it offered something different. No God, no dogma, no emphasis on the afterlife, but a system of practical philosophy that offers a better way of life here and now. From a moral and intellectual viewpoint it is the system of belief I found to be the most credible.

The reason for faith is an emotional bond to an idea. You want (or fear) something to be true so strongly that you believe it is true. Religion tries to strengthen this bond through emotional manipulation of human insecurities. It is quite successful at this because humans have been emotional creatures far longer than rational ones.

First I believe in God because there is no way that we are here by accedent. Second, I believe in the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, because He is a loving and rightuois, more so than any other God. Finnally, I believe in Jesus Christ, because He fulfills all the prophecies about the Messiah.

There can only be one true religion. There is only one God. The bible was written for the benefit of mankind. The bible states there are 2 roads, broad and spacious and then a narrow, road. But few are the ones on the narrow one.
Jesus did not die on a cross. Look at the greek word not cross but tree.

I have no faith at all, because logic has always shown to be the best way to tackle all questions on matters of truth, and logic can be used to conclusively disprove the existence of a deity by tethering the existence of a deity to a testable situation -- if a deity exists, free will is a logical conclusion of it. There is no free will, so there is no deity.

I believe in Christ because not only did He exist but the prophecies in the Bible prove that He is the Son of God and the Messiah of the world.
