I just had surgery on my meniscus. I had part of it removed. It depends on what type of injury you have. If your meniscus is torn, and it begins to damage cartilage, surgery is necessary. An MRI can determine the severity of the injury. See an orthopaedic surgeon.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but my mom has the same problem and she takes cortisone shots in the knee. The Dr. said that the maniscus in her knee was gone/destroyed. He said if the shots don't help, then surgery was the only way. But, do some research on the web and talk to more than one Dr. Because knee surgery takes a lot of work to recover, and a lot of time, too. Peace.

The meniscus is the padding between the bones of the knee. It needs surgery if it is torn or severally damaged. I had the surgery. It is nice to not be in pain.

Maniscus from what i'm told is a piece of cartilidge in your knee and if you tear it you have to get it work on surgically. You should probably have it done ASAP because it can get worse if left untreated
