Yes, giving a gift is something for your boss to remember you for. You can be able to probably get a good reference letter in the future from your Boss.

For the record, except for Bosses' Day or some other day where your boss should be recognized, it is inappropriate to give your boss a gift. He isn't the one leaving, you are.
It is most appropriate for your boss and coworkers to give you a parting gift- not the other way around. Whenever someone left a job in all the places where I've worked as an adult, there was a party or some sort of luncheon given in the departing employees honor. A collection was taken from all employees (who wished to contribute) and a gift was purchased or a plaque was given. Depending on the level of the employee sometimes the 'big person in charge' would pay for the gift out of his/her pocket. However, it is not etched in stone that there is a certain way to show your appreciation for having come into someone's acquaintance. If you want to do something nice, you can suggest a pot luck luncheon in your honor where several people have to bring in something to contribute. You can bring something to contribute also- somewhat like a "I appreciate you guys too" type of thing.

Yes, give the boss something of equal value. Always leave on a positive note. Co workers? well thats different, what have you done for the holidays in years past? I don't think it is necessary. If they gave you something - leaving the company gift, then a nice thank you card is really all that is necessary

remember that for any new job u apply u'll need the references from ur former boss, so i suggest u do something to part on good terms. besides he seems like he cares.
a gift might be too personal, though this depends on the type of boss. anyway at least return the gesture with the card by giving a card to him.
as for ur co-workers, have a party if thy're the type, tho thad might be taken as a sign u like leaving em.
custom is that they throw U a party or get u gifts.

Why don't you get your boss something, and then get like a hamper or something for your co-workers or a cake? That way everyone will get something and you won't have to go to so much trouble. Get your boss a card with the present and write a special note inside to them.

No gift.
Send a card after you start your new job and get settled. It will mean more to him if you remember him after the fact.
If you need a reference from this boss, the have him write a letter of reference for you. Why would you wait? (this confuses me)

If you had a good working relationship with your boss than I would at the very least give him a card or a personal note letting him know that you enjoyed working with him. It really is not necessary to give your co-workers a gift. If you plan to use any of them as references in the future, then surely a nice basket of muffins, bagels, or pastries should suffice.

I don't think a gift is necessary but a card to thank them for all the help they have given you.
I still have cards from ex employees who left 5 years ago.

A Thank you card will do it. After all he hired you. Plus who knows, he seems like he cares, he might send you a bonus. A gift will be too much, unless you were getting a great pay. And you might need a reference letter. Good Luck.

I would not. As you were an employee, the boss giving you something to show appreciation for your work is appropriate but you should not feel obligated to give one back. I would not give anything to co workers except speak to people and tell them you enjoyed working with them and wish them luck in the future
