i just started taking zoloft yesterday morning and last night i noticed that my throat was a little sore but when i woke up this morning my throat was half the size that it should be...but it only hurts when i swallow. my reaction to bactrum took about this long to develop but i only got hives. so is this an allergic reaction or am i just paranoid?

You may, in fact, have nothing more than pharyngitis. This may be totally unrelated to the zoloft. If you are itching or having difficulty breathing you need to assume its an allergy. You may want to try benadryl and see if your throat gets better. If so, it may be an early allergic reaction.

There is a possibility of this being an allergic reaction. DO NOT take the medication this morning and wait to see if the symptoms progress. If it becomes worse or any other symptoms such as rash or wheezing start, go to the ER immediatly. Pharyngitis is one of the adverse reactions from Zoloft.

The most likely scenario is that it is a side effect, and you are paranoid.

Most likely you have strep. Did you finish your abx bactrim from last time you went to the Dr.?

Why did you take these meds (zoloft)? You sound like a college student, and one succumbing to hypochondria. Only idiot college Dr. prescribe Zoloft. Nevertheless, better safe than dead on the throat thing. Quit your meds and call the doc, and talk to a nurse.

I'd stop taking the med and call your Doc. Let them know what is going on. Maybe they will give you a different med. If you get worse you had better go to the ER and not wait on Doctor call.
good luck, cheers

It is an allergic reaction, consult your doctor immediatly and tell them it might collapse your airway. That is bad, because you cant live without air.
