I guess sometimes it's hard for people to deal with others with bi-polar. I know that personally, people have a hard time dealing with me a lot because my moods change so frequently and when I get aggitated or frustrated, I am one of those people that can actually become violent. There really isn't a "way" to deal with us necessarily, because just like everyone else, bi-polar effects each person that has it differently. Most of the time I stay manic which is good for me, but usually bad for everyone else because I don't eat or sleep or get anything done, and I'm mean. The best advice I can possibly give you, and I'm sorry that I can't give you any more or any better, is that you just have to know what the person you are trying to deal with is like. After a while, you'll know when mood swings are coming and you will also know which way they are going to go this time, manic or depressed. I wish you the best of luck, because I myself have been diagnosed and on medication for it for 7 years now, and some people that I see everyday still can't "deal" with me. I won't lie to you, it's not easy. Good luck again.

actually its your attitude that needs to change I can tell by your question that you are classifying anyone who has the Medical condition of Bipolar Disorder as a Freak the correct way to describe anyone with any MEDICAL condition is to say some thing like I have a friend or relative who has Bipolar disorder the person is not the disorder they are still themselves just because they were "blessed" with a chemical imbalance in the brain chemicals (medical disorder) they do not become the disorder this is how so much stigmatism is spread through out the world sorry for my ranting

I am bipolar and you don't deal with it the person does. Try to understand what they are going though. It isn't easy and sometimes the person doesn't understand themselves why they are jumping from mood to mood. Be there for them, let them know you are there to support them no matter what they do or say. Honesty and understanding. Always let them know when they are being mean. I hope i have helped in some way.

Being Bipolar or dealing with any depression in life is so painful, it can make you feel alien like, as if you are not even you anymore. The person who is Bipolar or who has depression needs moral support and just realize that they can be really moody, but we cal all be really moody sometimes, so dont judge them just because they are dealing with something that is really hard, and it hurts them more, emotionally and physically more than you will ever know... for those answers who responded "stay away" you are ignorant, be there for others, and they might be there for you one day. people need others in times when they are down or if they feel sad. try to help them and just listen to them. if you can give them any feelings that they are wanted and have a friend, you are helping them. it is the ignorant people who make them sad and depressed, this world needs more love and support.

Patience, understanding, and love. I am bipolar and most people don't know how to deal with me. Instead of being patient, they yell and scream at me, which gets me worse. Instead of understanding that I'm having a mood swing, they just call me selfish and a terrible person. Instead of giving me love when I need it, they tell me how much they hate the way I am and act. Most people are too weak to deal with me. It takes a very strong person to deal with a bipolar. If all you know to do is to be mean and hateful back to them, then they will never calm down. If the person is being hateful to you, just give them a hug and say, "I know you really don't mean that, you're just upset." Please don't be hateful though, that just makes us worse.

Try to understand that they are mentally ill, ill being the key word here. Try to have patience with their ever changing moods. Encourage them to take their medication/s. And don't play in to their mood swings. In other words, if one is manic, encourage them to take whatever medicine they have been prescribed to help them calm down. Likewise, if they are depressed, encourage them to take their anti depressants. But basically, the best way to deal with a Bipolar is to try to be understanding and do lots of research. Peace.

I feel so sorry for you.....I know what your dealing with. A person who can be so loving one minute and then very hateful the next. I just do not argue anymore. I refuse to get into that anymore. It does no good.

Your question is so vague, it's hard to answer.... so I'll give a general answer & hope it's helpful: the best way to "deal with" anyone, bipolar or not, is with honesty & kindness.

It's not easy, but try to encourage them to seek professional help, they have medications that may help ease the symptoms.
