It's religion. It doesn't have to make sense. It is just a story. Cain found a wife out of thin air because it fit the storyline better.
Realistically, the story was derived from earlier myths, such as the Sumerian tale of the wooing of Inanna. So, the Biblical version doesn't make sense because it includes elements from that myth and possibly others without the filler story for the elements.

That's a very interesting question. However, the Bible says that Adam was the first man (1 Corinthians 15:45). Eve was called the Mother of all living (Genesis 3:20). The Bible makes it very clear that because of Adam, all die (1 Corinthians 15:22), and in Christ, all can have life (1 Corinthians 15:22). Therefore, if other people are alive that did not descend from Adam, they cannot be saved. Christ came to redeem all who have died in Adam. Some people feel that there had to have been others living around the time of Adam and Eve because of a "problem" with whom Cain would have married. Cain was Adam and Eve’s son. The Bible explains how Cain killed his brother, Abel, and was banished for what he had done.
The Bible says Cain went to the land of Nod, and knew his wife. Some people feel that this means Cain met his wife in Nod. So the question is, if Adam and Even had Cain and Abel, and Cain killed Abel, who did Cain marry? It appears that the question is answered by suggesting that other people unrelated to Adam and Eve were alive at the time, however, if we learn to stick with God's Word, and not man's fallible word, we will never be let down. Genesis 5:4 explains how Adam lived 800 years and had sons and daughters!
How many kids could two people have in 800 years! So Cain would have more than likely married a sister of his. This would take us into a whole new question of "Is it right for them to marry brothers and sisters". The laws forbidding it weren't given until over 2000 years later. Secondly, they wouldn't experience any of the genetic problems we have today with close-relational breeding. This is an entirely different question, so I'll leave it at that!

Cain and Abel were NOT Adam and Eve's only children. They had other "sons and daughters", with only one other mentioned: Seth.
Logic would suggest that Cain married his sister. There was no concern about "incest" immediately after the creation of humanity, so it wasn't a problem. Apparantly the gene pool was pure enough to get things started. It has degenerated a lot since then!

Well to address your last question first....Cain and Abel were not Adam and Eve's only children. If you read on it says they had more children. Which brings us to the question of where Cain got his wife.
Cain's wife was his sister. If you look at how old Adam and Ever were when they died, you will see they had over 900 years of life experience and I imagine a great portion of their lives was in child rearing. Many children were probably produced and all were I imagine of much sturdier stock than today. Adam and Ever were created perfect. No genetic mutations. Their children in turn probably had very few genetic mutations. There would be very little danger of genetic problems if brother and sister intermarried and had children at that time. It wasn't until later, after the flood of Noah and a genetic bottle necking, that we see the laws spoke of in the bible about not marrying your sister or close relation. Sounds gross to us today, and I imagine it's gross to us for a reason. Now adays we've collected all the genetic mutations of all the generations down through the ages. It would be dangerous and morally disgusting for brother and sister to marry and have children. Back then it was different.

"Where did Cain get his wife?"
Many ask this question thinking they’ve found a "mistake" in the Bible—that there must have been other people besides Adam and Eve. Scripture tells us that Adam is "the first man" (1 Corinthians 15:45); that there were no other humans when he was created, because God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone" (Genesis 2:18); and that Eve is "the mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20). Cain and Abel, then, must have married distant sisters. All of the first-generation siblings married each other in order to populate the earth. At that time there was no law against incest. But as the population grew large enough, and as the risk of genetic problems increased because of sin’s curse, God outlawed marriage between siblings.

The bible does not mention every person that was born, only those relevant to the ancestery of Jesus and for the sake of tracing back a timeline. Seth was another child of Adam and eve. Adam and Eve had several children who grew up and married each other, this is what they were supposed to do. Once mankind had significantly multiplied across the Earth, incest was no longer tolerated.

Adam and Eve had many more children it doesn't say who Cain's wife was it could have been a sister it could have been a fallen angel this is one of the mysteries of the bible and yes the world population was started by incest it wasn't until the laws were set that it was no longer permitted or necessary. and yes until the flood of the world in Noah's time the fallen angel's were called son's of God and they took women of earth to be there wife's, this is were the giant Goliath came from he was the offspring of a fallen angel.

Adam and Eve had Cain (Genesis 4:1), Abel (Genesis 4:2), Seth (Genesis 4:25), and many other sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4). We would assume Cain married a sister.

Cain and able were not Adam and Eve's only Children, after they were banished from the Garden of Eden they Had more children. If you really want to learn more about the bible, READ IT! I went to Catholic school growing up, loved the stories the bible had to tell. I no longer attend church, I figured I'd paid my dues going to Catholic School for 13 years, but I still pick up the bible every now and then and look for new passages that I do not remember reading.
