I am getting married in August and my fiancee and I both want red and purple as a colors but I don't know how these two colors might look together. I wanted to incorporate the two colors by the bridemaids wearing red dresses and the guys in white tux with the purple vest or purple tie. Anyone have any ideas?? I want my wedding to be unique but I don't want it to be too strange.

Purple dresses with red ties or cumber buns.

no offense but with red dresses and white and purple? PIcture that...it doesnt go at all. It would be hard to see a theme there. Red and purple also really shouldnt go together because red is a "warm" color and purple is a "cool" color normally you wouldnt want to blend them together. Maybe you guys should pick one of the colors and choose a different match. Or you could do it this way...instead of using read and purple use plum and maroon. those might go better because they are both off colors but still kind of red and purple. Get it? Have fun.

To be honest with you I think that much of a contrast my look funny especially with the white tuxes, purple vests, and red dresses. Kinda tacky. However, purple and red wouldn't be bad together you could just use it in other ways. For instance have the girls dresses be purple and then in their flowers you can tie in the red and then use the red in your decorations. Just make sure the dresses and the groomsmen's vests match or it might look kinda weird. Just a suggestion.

What about the guys having on white tuxes and alternating red and purple cumber bands and tie. If the girl wears red the guy wears red, the next couple wears purple. A red dress with purple flowers sewn on it for the flower girl. You could also bring in the colors with flowers. The girls could wear purple dresses with maybe a red wrap and red flowers and the groomsmen wear white with the purple cumber band and have a red boutonniere. Then decorating the pews with red and purple ribbons and white flowers etc. I hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy your day. Have fun first and remember it's your and your fiance's wedding go with it.

I think it sounds like a trainwreck, partly because your 3 colors don't sound appealing together, and partly because your two add-in colors of navy or yellow make it sound even worse. I think you're trying to do too much. Normally, people have 2 main colors and then an accent color. So start with your "must have", and take it from there. It sounds like you want a deep, dark red, so aim for colors that go with this. There's lots of options. You could even take the shade of red that works (almost like a cranberry) and then lighten the tint until you find a complementary lighter tint that also works. Then add in champagne, black, or ivory etc. Even green would work with this.

I think it would be great if it was like a cranberry red and maybe a violet purple. Sounds great.
You could even play it up a little and have all the guys wearing the same color purple but play up the peices they wear one can wear a vest another can wear a tie another can wear that thing belt thing I don't know what to can them.

Purple is ok but not with red, you would look like you were throwing a red had lady party or something....try other colors like purple and white or purple and gold.

on the red dresses you should take a rich royal purple and tie it around the brides maid dresses and tie a bow in the back. on the guys you should do a purple vest and a red bow tie. it will look good dont worry. and you should do purple and red flowers in the vases in the center of the tables. congrads!

First off, congratulations and good luck.
Purple and red say "Red hat society". Don't do that. You could try a deep purple with a cream or a deep gold. That would be very gorgous.

Well, it's your wedding day, and you have to make yourself happy first and foremost. Purple and red are certainly non-traditional wedding colors, so unique you will be! Who knows, you may start a new trend? I'm getting sick of pastels, myself.
Congrats and good luck!
