Bostonian is partialy right. There is air over hydrolics in all modern aircrafts.Mostly to dampen the noise of the pumps and actuators.
Foker aircrafts had a lot of aircrafts that had pneumatic only systems on them. Not a drop of hydrolic fluid was used.
The F27 used bleedair from the engines an well as airpumps to charge reservoirs inside the aircraft.
Some pneumatics are used as emergency systems ,to lover the landing gear and apply the brakes in the event of a total hydrolic failiure.
From the flap, landing gear and brakes every thing was air actuated.
Tha advantage to air systems are that when they leak there is no big mess to clean up and easy to replenish.
Disadvantage is when a line or component fails it makes a big boom as all the pressurised air expandt and destroys a lot of stuf.

It's usually referred to as pnuedraulics -- a combination of pneumatics and hydraulics. Most aircraft controls are hydraulically assisted; pneumatics have limited application in modern aircraft.

pneumatics is rather lots comparable to hydralics, different than that air or gasoline tension is used because of the fact the lifting/pushing potential medium as a replace of a liquid, the controls are electro-mechanical, and in any style of circumstances could be an help or a boon, finding on the applcations, and instalations.

Pneumatics are used all over the place. We use Parker and Bimba products in several applications in aircraft.
