The three 'R's - Rest, Relax and Reason.

You really need to rest and take sleep when you can - the demands of being a medical student go above and beyond the average Joe and you need to be on tip top form.
Relax to take your mind away from your workload - this doesn't mean going out and getting yourself drunk and partied every night, but blow off some steam - exercise - hit out at a few punch bags and breathe in some lavender oils to wind down.
Reason with yourself - Is it worth worrying about? Is it worth affecting your health for? What would be the consequences if you didn't do something? Would life still go on regardless? Are there alternative routes you can try? Can you ask for delays from your tutors? Can you get help from them, or anyone else?

Most of this is common sense, but when you get stressed, tired and depressed, sense goes out the window.

Most of all - remember to breathe.

Take Care

I suspect that as a med student you are well aware of the things you can do, and are only reluctant to do what you should do.
You have your choices here, see a Psychiatrist / Psychologist to help you determine if you really want to be a Dr. and if so to get the help you need, or the strength to get out.
OR, just wait until residency and find out even more how you cope with stress. At that point you won't be the only one paying a price. Do what you gotta do. Dr's, for all their arrogance, are just humans too.

Medical school is very consuming and I can imagine stressful. Take a break. Take off a semester, better that than to become so stressed out as to fail. Talk to your counselors and instructors. I bet some of them have done the same.Sometimes you have to back away from a situation for a while, get yourself together, and come back even more determined and refreshed. Best of luck, and you will make a good doctor.

* No staying up late - which drains you're brain
* When you seek entertainment, access movies or programs filled with gut splitting humor - it lifts your spirits.
* If the garbage going on in the world is getting you down, limit how much news you watch. Anger sucks the life out of you.
* Don't hang with "drag me downs".., people who complain or gripe all the time. This has an energy draining effect.
* Cut down on alcohol consumption to one small shot glass before bed.., if you drink at all.., and of that.., make it wine.
* Refuse to listen to depressing music (even up beat music with negative lyrics - and avoid dark reading materials. You are what you eat just as much in what you feed your brain.
* Exercise.

This helps when one's depression is not chronic like mine. It does not sound like your's has reached that point yet so the sooner you get started stopping the process, the better.

Best wishes your way.

WOW YOU REALLY MUST BE AN INTELLIGENT ONE TO GET A MEDICAL SEAT.NICE TO KNOW YOU.
WELL COMING TO YOUR PROBLEM OF GETTING DEPRESSED I SUGGEST THAT WHEN YOU READ THE TEXTBOOKS OR WHEN YOU ARE PREPARING FOR YOUR EXAMS GO EASY ON THEM .A PERSON GETS DEPRESSED ONLY WHEN HE OR SHE THINKS THAT WHAT THEY STUDIED MAY NOT COME INTO THIER BRAIN WHILE WRITING EXAMS.NO ITS NOT TRUE.BECOZ WHAT EVER A PERSON STUDIES OR WRITES OR DOES IT WILL ALL BE IN THE MIND HOWEVER STRONG YOU MAY TRY TO FORGET IT.SO DONT WORRY ABOUT LOOSING INFO IN YOUR BRAIN AT EXAMS TIME.I DO EXACTLY SAME AND I GET MORE THAN 85% ALL THE TIME.
AND ABOUT GETTING TIRED. YOU BETTER NOT STUDY TOO MUCH AT A TIME.DIVIDE THE SUBJECTS INTO DAILY WISE .I MEAN INTO LESSONS OR TOPICS PER DAY .THEN GO ON WITH ONE TOPIC ....FINISH IT THEN PLAY VIDEOGAME OR LISTEN TO MUSIC OR REFRESH YOUR MIND OFF THE HEAT DUE TO STUDY .THEN GO ON WITH THE NEXT TOPIC.THIS WAY YOU SURE WILL BE AWAY FROM GETTING TIRED EASILY.
TRY MY FORMULAS ATLEAST ONCE AND SEE THE CHANGE YOURSELF.ALL THE BEST FRIEND.
