If I were you, I'd put it off until you're sure what you want. I had mine done when I was 18 (I'm in my forties now) and I just wanted to have a tattoo and didn't really think too much about what I wanted. While I don't particularly regret having them, I wish I'd thought more carefully as I just ended up with some flowers and butterflies that I picked from the book. They have no particular meaning. Never, ever have someone's name.

I have a few tattoo's and without sounding bitchy you should've perhaps come up with the design before deciding and booking your tattoo. What you are getting should be personal because it is with you for life.
Do you really want something someone else told you to get just because it may appeal to you at the time?
Take a little more time and draw yourself something up.
You say you want something "cute and meaningful" but seriously how meaningful could it be that someone you probably don't know is suggesting you get it. Delve into your own personality and I'm sure you'll find something

Wait until you see something you'll like before having a tatoo done. It's a lifelong commitment and do you really want to have something put on your body that someone else chose for you? Don't ever rush into things like this.
Btw, I'm not at all anti-tattoo either. I've got one piece and am getting another done in February 2007. Both have been designed by me, for me.

I do not understand why people insist on making appointments to have a tattoo done, when they have NO IDEA what they're getting, or where they're going to put it.
This is something that is going to be put on your body PERMANENTLY (unless, of course, you decide to pay thousands of dollars to have it removed later).
If you want something that's truly "special," maybe you should think about it for more than a week.
I have 15 tattoos.

next week is a bit soon to be having a tat that you havent yet decided on. Please put it off until you have given it more thought and chose something that you know you will love forever.
I ignored this advice when it was given to me and i have big regrets! Tattoo removal is painful and very very expensive. Far more so than the tattoo.
I love tattoos and dont regret that I have them but I had one removed and i really wish id put more thought into it. I know its hard when you want it and are all psyched up for it but you will never regret putting it off.
Think about things thst you have always loved and why you loved them. For me it was a certain type and colour of flower which brought back happy childhood memories. I hope you find a beautiful design that was worth waiting for.
Mine is a hybiscus on my arm. it is unique, my own design and the artist's interpretation of it. I love it but it is very personal to me. Also make sure you research your tattoo artist carefully, dont just go anywhere. They all use fresh needles nowadays but just confirm it with them anyway.

I'm currently having a tattoo done on my back of a dragon, in a sort of anime style, it's nearly covered my whole back at too...All i need is the colour put in after the shading and I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
If your asking others for a tattoo then really you shouldn't be having one, not to sound negative or anything. Tattoo's have to have a meaning to you. Thus they are special, You've got to live with it for the rest of your life afterwards.
but there are some ideas of "cute tattoo's" on the second link, the first one is my current work of art.

Personally I have butterflies because they can small but eye catching and i think they make a good choice. I have 2 (1 with a tribal) and then a pegasus on my calf and a dragon on my thigh.
I would go with something you have always liked such as a type of animal or maybe chinese lettering etc. If its your first i would suggest having it somewhere you can hide it too, just incase your work doesnt like tattoos on show etc.
good luck and dont rush into your choice!

Your thigh is a nice place to have a tattoo. You can hide it with business length skirts or show it off if you wear shorts. When I got married it wasn't an issue b/c it was somewhere inconspicious. I'm glad that i thought long and hard about the location b/c now that I'm a professional, a tattoo should be in a hidden location.
I have 2 hershey kissses on my thigh.

You're having a tattoo done, but you don't know what!
Cancel the appointment until you've settled on a design and wanted it for at least six months!

In all honesty I wouldn't bother, I had mine done when I was 17, I'm a girly girl and got a really nice dolphin on my right shoulder, now I'm 22, married with a 15 month old daughter and hate the sight of that thing!
I had to cover it up on my wedding day so I didn't look a chav and its annoyed me ever since!
If you do go ahead at least try and get it somewhere were you could hide it easily if you go off it!
