I met this girl at school and we talk for 3-5 hours at a time on the phone a couple times a week. She keeps pretty busy and lives an hour and a half away. Anyway, my question is, would a girl talk to someone for so long if she wasn't interested in something more than a friendship, or is she more than likely interested in being just friends. BTW I am 25 and she is 24. Please don't respond if you're under 18 and please don't advise me to "just ask" cause it's not that big of a deal, I'm just curious what other people think talking for so long could imply. Thank you.

Let me be frank!
I am 24.
I'd only talk to some on the phone for hours if
1. I that person is an old friend or a relative that I'm close to
or
2. I'm interested.
Given the fact that she's a new friend and she keeps a busy life, she thinks you're important enough to tell you every single detail of her life.
My friend... she's a-lookin and she's a-likin
If a guy who I'm not interested in tries to keep me in a conversation for more than 5 minutes I just say "Listen... this conversation is going nowhere.. I've gotta go."
She might be much more polite than me.
But you can tell she's definitely interested when:
1. She doesn't avoid your phone calls
and
2. SHE calls you, incurring the expense
There's only one thing though
If she thinks of you as a friend... you'll know that early on up.
She'll say things that'll be more buddy-buddy pal-pal and you'll hear her talk about her interests in the guy she's dating or the secret crush.
If those details don't pop out... she wants to get to know you bro.

I am in a similar situtation. My guy friend and I talk anywhere from 4-9 hours on the phone, despite the fact that we have classes the next day. But the difference between me and you is that I know that he is interested in me and vice versa. We sorta just asked each other. But the problem with our relationship or friendship is that we live about 25 miles apart, go to different colleges and have different extra cirrucular activities occupying our lives, so it is hard to get together. If deep down inside you would like to find out if there could possibly be more than a frinedship, then go for it. Just be aware that living an hour and half away, though it might not seem like much now, could be a problem.

It can be a variety of things. Alot depends on what kind of things she is sharing with you. Does she talk about other love interests when she talks with you? That could be an indication that she sees you as more of a friend then anything. If she doesent talk to you about other guys, and talks about the future occasionaly, thats a good sign she sees you as a potential mate. There are some girls that... just like to talk alot though, or are not interested in a super-serious relationship. you can really only decide this by seeing how she interacts with others (both male and female). If she is extreemly outgoing you can consider that an option, otherwise i would rule it out.

I'm 24 and I think talking for that long, she is definitely interested. Don't push anything yet though. Maybe she's getting to know you first. Instead of talking for that long on the phone, try doing it face to face. Take a walk in the park or something. Don't go anywhere private. You might scare her away. I think she's trying to get to know you a little better.

It must be a big enough deal to you or you wouldn't have asked the question. If you are interested in being more than just friends, ask her out. Maybe she only wants to be friends. If you are talking that long on the phone, you must have some things in common. It sounds like she is interested in you. I know you don't want to hear it but, JUST ASK!

I have found that yes Generally that means that she wants somthing more, the only girls ive ever talked to on the phone for that long are the ones i ended up haveing long term relationships with, that or my Fiance, we text for hours in a day, so yeah She wants more

Look at the facts: There is distance between you and she prefers the phone to talk. That should tell you something. She likes you as a friend. Don't try to read stuff into a situation unless she actually says something. And, yes, do ask. It's the only way to find out.

okay thanks for the no people under 18 thing because since you put that i am going to answer. (im 17) okay when i talk on the phone with a guy more than an hour i consider him just a friend. and if you think that she really does like you some time when you are chatting on the phone with her you should just blurt out" hey you want to grab and bite to eat" and she will either say no if she is not interested or she will say "wow you will drive all the way out here for me just to grab a bite to eat?" say of course i would do anything for you. if it doesnt work sorry that i answered.

Well she may just like your company.Am saying that cuz right now i just meet this guy am not attracted to him and am not planning on dating him,but we talk for a very long time on the phone i even call him too i just enjoy talking with him cuz his real and different from a lot of guys, cuz he always has something to add and we can talk about life, friends etc not just sex like most guys.so it may be bith ways but u feell you shoulld just give it time am sure u with find out.
