I have about 12 hours of audio tutorials that i recorded using my IC Recorder and I would like to transcribe it onto Microsoft Words for future reference. Any very good software that I can use to do this for me automatically?

Microsoft Word (Office XP or later) has a built in speech to text converter. Try it.. For instructions on setting it up see the help menu in the Word program.

There are other commercially available software packages, IE Dragon Naturally Speaking, IBM - Via Voice, and others.

Dragon now is claiming a 99% success rate for live voice probably less for a recorded voice.

Note: Speech to text is still not perfected 100% but they should do a fair job of starting the transcription process

Voice recognition software is still essentially in its infancy. There are products available, but by all accounts none of them really work. The other problem would be calibrating it... when you start these programs up you have to repeatedly read out several test phrases, so that it can try and work out your voice. If you're trying to transcribe someone elses voice from tape, this is going to be difficult.

I would recommend just getting on with it and start typing - you'll be done in a few days no worries :)
