Surely, it would get rid of *some* of the pain? If not, why not?

I've got a few tattoos already, so I know what level of pain to expect. This next one is going to be my biggest yet so I thought I'd get through the duration with some assistance. ;-)

Take the painkiller only if you're a wimp. Sit down and take the pain like a man.

NO you should NOT take painkillers before getting your tattoo. Painkillers thin your blood which is not what you want when getting a tattoo. Stick it out and you can take some pain killers AFTER getting your tattoo finished but never take them before getting a tattoo! Most tattoo artist will NOT give you a tattoo if they notice you are on painkillers or have been drinking!

No you should not take a pain releiver! Yeah it'd be great to be without the pain but it's not that bad and you just shouldn't get a tattoo if you can't take it. Think about all the girly girls that have them and did it without meds! PLUS, for the same reasons you are not supposed to drink beforehand... pain relievers thin your blood and you bleeding at all can effect your tattoo.....or your health.

You may take a couple Ibuprofen tablets...

It's not going to lessen the pain of actually *getting* the tattoo, but it will most likely help with the swelling and soreness once the tattoo is finished.

If you want to A: get thrown out of a tattoo parlor or B: bleed out feel free to take a couple of painkillers..Tattoo parlors monitor customers..If they believe you have taken something they WILL NOT tattoo you..If u take pain killers they cause your blood to thin out..so the choice is yours..

I think anyone who takes something to elevate the pain of a tattoo doesn't deserve to get one. The pain is part of the tattoo experience. It's a right of passage. If you can't take the heat get your *** out the kitchen so to speak.

well i do tattoos and that will not help you it will only thin your blood. and plz do not drink as you should know drinking will also thin your blood and make you bleed more and can affect how your tat will turn out.the more you bleed can cause the ink less likely to stay, just go in there ready nothing you do will make you feel less pain. that's all part of getting a tattoo.

Most places will not allow that...besides if you already have a few then you know how it is going to go. If you want try some advil about two hours before hand so that it can be in your system prior to the start of the tat

Not a good idea, painkillers are also blood thinners. You'll bleed a whole lot more if you take them. Unless you don't mind bleeding, then yes it would dull some of the pain. But the more you take the more you bleed.
