The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding. So:
1: Realize that you belong to God and that He has the final say in every area of your life and be afraid. It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.
2. Feed your spirit by reading the word of God.
3. Pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

Observe the natural world; be out in it until your mind calms and you can be moved by the complex beauty of Nature.
Focus on what you are doing - doing anything simply to be doing it, without stray thoughts or the intention of "going" anywhere with what you are doing will reveal the calm satisfaction of just being.
Touch things. Notice their texture, their temperature, their density. Notice the feeling of you dog's fur as you pet him/her. Notice how different it feels against your cheek and against your hand. Bury your face in the pillow your beloved sleeps on and inhale deeply. Listen to the beating of your own heart. Listen to your breathing. Be in your body.

listen more than you talk, keep away from loud people who disturb your spirit, and seek the gift of true wisdom in prayer to the Holy Spirit.
