When you ask about "the eastern most" state in the U.S., which is the most appropriate English?

4). if none of the above is correct, I have no clue. Please help!

#1 is perfect. The only change I would suggest is that, if it's going to be in written form, you may want to hyphenate "easternmost" to read eastern-most, instead. Sounds like you're doing fine to me!

Number 1 and I believe that Easternmost should be capitalized as a cardinal compass point.

1 & 2 are both correct. I've never seen "east-most". The only difference between them is question 2 is one of those "trying to trick you" questions by saying they want the easternmost state at the end (many students quickly skim a question and don't bother with the end so this is why it's a trick one).

1 is correct but make eastern most 2 words. Also, it should be a capital "E" not a small "e" for Eastern.
