just like adults children are different and therefore each child will learn effectively in a different manner.
according to most experts there are seven different learning styles. ranging from autiory to hands on to sight.
watch your child or children and be sure to include as many different learning oppurtunities in your class or classroom or school as you can and be sure to include all children in as many different chances to see the best way for each child to learn.
and always remember whatever is your own best way is not always the best for everyone

For any person of any age there are 2 sides to learning. They are: the person learning and the the source of the learning. I guess the learning environment plays a part also.
The source has to be realiable, knowledgable, and able to communicate what is being tought.
The person learning has to be attentive, interested, and able to learn.
The environment needs to be void of outside distractions, set up for learning, and comfortable.
If any one or more of those factors are lacking or missing, learning becomes difficult or confusing, possibly impossible.

The key word in your question is 'effective'. To effectively learn, children need to be engaged, feel confident and capable, and participate in hands-on exploration of the world around them.

Let them explore the activities you will teach them. Show them that you love them and let them play with each other. Make things that seem boring to learn, fun.
