Paul stated that it is not a good idea to sin that grace may abound. James said faith without works is dead. Here is my experience, once I became justified and reconciled then the force of sin had no hold on me. I was you might say not tempted by those things I had been struggling with daily. Prayer regularly kepts those wolves away. I know that because when I would slip roll iup my sleeves and start doing it on my own then the desires came back and luckily for me I noticed them early got back to talking with God daily, and they went away. There were a few behaviors that were habit and when they kept poping up and giving me conviction those I made a special effort with in [pprayer until I fopund that I had to admit to God I needed His help on those and could not do it myself and then tehytoo disappeared. SAtill I make mistakes and somethings get me angry like poor witness of some who say they are Christians yet these are more mistakes than something tinged with evil. There is righteous indignation but really I think there is an element of sin in most of that too.
If a person prays and receives the power (that is what people inaccurately refer to as being born again) then they do not go out a keep sinning.if they do then they just think they got justified and reconciled and hopefully someone close will point that out to them in a loving way.

Well, if you are truly born again and filled with the Spirit of the living God, you wouldn't have that attitude. People can use anything as an excuse to do as they like. For example, "There is no God, so I make the rules and the rules say every man for himself, no matter who I step on." Christians don't corner the market on hypocricy or using scapegoats.
However christians do have a standard they are supposed to live up to, and that is that we are to be known by our love for one another. It's a sad testimony on christiandom today when so many are so unloving toward each other.

Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
We establish the law by admitting that the law is righteous. But no one can follow the law to the letter. It is impossible. If it were possible, then Christ died in vain. God knew that we could not follow the law completely. But it was written to teach us what a just and holy God requires to be accepted into His presence. Therefore the law is our teacher, teaching us that we need a Savior, namely, Jesus Christ......... the perfect sacrifice. Peace.
PS Again, we know you are trolling, looking for a debate. Why not just accept the truth and get on with your life?

Matthew 7:22; tells us that there will be many who stand before the Lord and proclaim to have had done the Lord's works here on earth, But the Lord will tell them on that day of judgement, get from me for I knew you not.
This surely let's us know that even though we go to church and think we are doing the Lord's work we will be cast into outer darkness if we do not know and have a real relationship with Our Lord Jesus. And know what his word says about changing our lives and turning from our wicked ways.
Matthew 22:29; and Mark 12:24; tells us we do err because we do not know the scriptures and the power there in.
To be a Christian means to be Christ Like. So by renewing our mind to the word of God, We should desire and work towards repenting and turning from our sin's, and doing good for all we meet. This is what Our Savior Jesus did. So to be Christ like, we should also.
John the Baptist prepared the way by crying in the wilderness, repent and turn from your wicked ways. Jesus gave his life for all who receive him, He gave his life so that we could have the right to repent and be forgiven. To repent means to have a change of heart towards sin. To stop doing the sin's that keep us from the Lord. Jesus was with out sin. The only perfect man upon earth ever. But God's word tells us we are to strive to be without sin, Just like him. Hebrews 10:26; says for if we wilfully sin after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for our sin. But he also through out the bible assures and tells us if we live a repented life daily, repenting daily of the wrong's we done today, that he was just and full of mercy and grace. And when we ask for forgiveness he will forgive us daily.. While none of us are perfect, and becoming a saint over night does not happen The Lord tells us to strive daily to lay away the sin's that easily beset us.
While there is mercy grace and forgiveness at the cross where Jesus died, there is no more justification or sacrifice for our sin if we chose not to work to stop it. Jesus died that there might be away for all of us to be saved from being cast into outer darkness forever. Nothing anyone can say or do can change that. But we can only be saved from outer darkness if we repent seek after and strive to become Christ like, who was without sin. We must by the Spirit be able to call him Lord and savior and respect him enough to try not to offend him in our daily lives. And continually ask for forgiveness if we do.

Reminds me of the story about a boy who, whenever he did something wrong would ask his father for forgiveness. His father would forgive him only if he would hammer a nail into the wall of his room and then pull it out. Years went on and one day the son says to his father, "I can do anything I want, no matter how bad, and you'll forgive me. All I have to do is hammer a silly nail into my wall and pull it out." His father replies, "Yes you're forgiven, but look at all the holes in your wall." So you're forgiven but the stain remains. Now you go get your rug, face East and ask forgiveness for posing such a pointedly obnoxious and thinly veiled slap at one of the world's great religions (and, if your interested - or if it matters - I'm not Christian).

It is true that while we were all sinners Jesus loved us and died for us. It is true that nothing is impossible to God.
However true repentance, and true acceptance of Jesus means He is now in control. And our lives are now dedicated to Him. He died for us, and rose again. We live for Him.
There is nothing on this earth that one of us can do to obtain heaven. It is a gift given by God. Because we have received this gift of salvation we try to attain a sinless life, not because we want to receive salvation.
Anyone who says they are a Christian and do not follow His commandments is a liar. Not because they have to do them to be His, but because that is the mark, the proof that they are His already.
No one changes for Jesus, Jesus changes them. If a person has not been changed in their heart, then that person will never accept this.
By the way, if you have questions, I will respect your beliefs, even though I may not agree with them. I will respect the people who I converse with and even debate. However, to resort to name calling, and bigotry against people because of their beliefs is no better than the so-called Christians who gave you the examples by which you now judge us.
This is Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo ridicule.
The Bible explains all of this. If people based their opinions on a critics reviews, or on the comments of people who have read any other book, would you believe everything they told you? If not, then why do it when it comes to the Bible, and then so strongly argue against it.

no. thats not even the point of Jesus' death. Jesus died because that was the only way for all of man to be able to have forgiveness for all of the sins we do. And although many people that call themselves Christians probably do support this, we shouldnt. Everyone messes up but our job is to try to live like Jesus, even though it is humanly impossible to be perfect. Whenever you become a Christian, you should want to please God and try to live like He wants us to. For the Christians who dont care... are you sure they really are Christians?

I'm atheist, but your question is way off base.
The theory as I understand it is that he died for the sins of humanity, and if you accept him then you are forgiven. If you do something sinful afterward and genuinely repent, you're re-forgiven. Serial sin would be an indicator of no true repentance and therefore you're on the hook.
Besides, sin is supposed to be between each person and God. It's not a way for mortal folk to keep score and figure out who's best. Let's not forget that there are still earthly consequences for wrongful acts, too.
Anyway, one atheist and ex Lutheran's opinion.

- By no means does the sacrifice of Jesus give people the freedom to live anyway they want.
- Anyone one who confesses with their mouth & believes that Jesus is their Lord & Savior needs to recognize that Jesus must be Lord over all of their life not just in what they, but also how they live.
- True repentence means turning away from sinful ways.

Absolutely not!! Jesus gave us a perfect example of what it means to be truly alive and truly human. He gave us strict laws to govern our behavior. He admonished us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, etc and those who think they are first shall indeed be last so we are never to presume God's love and forgiveness in our lives, but must always be humble and loving to all others, willing to forgive, and not be proud and boastful in any arrogant or selfish way. We are to be living examples of Jesus humility and selflessness in all our daily living.
