Yes, especially the poisonous ones. You just need to try them sometime.

There is not just one type of mushroom. There are buttons, portabella, shiitake, porcini, oyster, etc. None have a significant amount of fat and all are high in protein. Because of this, they are good for people with cardiovascular problems.
On the other hand, allergies to mushrooms are not uncommon and you want to be sure of the identity of whatever you eat. The ones you buy in the store are safe, but any that you find wild should be identified by an expert before eating. Some wild mushrooms are deadly poisonous. Remember that the fungi constitute another phylum, like those for plants and animals. Asking whether 'mushrooms' are healthy is like asking if 'plants with seeds' are healthy. It depends on the mushroom.
Not all mushrooms grow on manure: shiitake and oyster mushrooms grow on wood, for example. Morels grow in underbrush and are highly prized by many people.

There is some relationship suggested between eating members of the fungi kingdom and an increased risk of cancer.
I don't think there is conclusive proof one way or the other, though too much of anything is a bad thing.
A varied diet and plenty of exercise would probably counteract any negative effects, besides what doesn't have carcinogenic effects nowadays?
Burnt toast? Polynuclear aromatics - bad indeed
Burnt mushroom? Don't even go there
PS. mushrooms are not plants and thus should not be under botany (not that there is a mycology category)

Just think at this: the eatable ones are so healthy that you can even replace meat with them. They are even called "vegetable meat" that's because beside all nutrients, and minerals you can find in them including high concentration in Calcium &co. they have a distinctive structure of the cell being made from combinations of the animal kingdom cells with plant kingdom cell. They posses some therapeutical properties , being used in pharmaceutical industry.
So for those who say that mushrooms are just "some empty stuff", to think again.

Yes, they are a good source of iron. But they are high in sodium, especially if you sprinkle salt on them which makes them so much more delicious.

I don't know if they are healthy, I don't think they'd really have a lot of fat or anything in them, but I do know that they are really tasty :)
