I have had one wisdom tooth taken out and it was ok. They gave me an injection and I felt absolutely no pain.
You would be under a general anaesthic for this and will not feel a thing.
Surgery is not as scary as it sounds. Infact, it is very relaxing.
You can always have a drug to help you relax prior to the general anaesthetic.
Having surgery is an amazing thing actually. It takes just a split second to be anaesthetized and before you know it, you are awake and wondering if they have done you or not.
You may feel some pain after surgery but with the right pain killers, you will get through it with no problems.
Obviously, your dentist feels they must come out.
You will feel better for it and so will your mouth.
Speak to your dentist about the fears you are having. Speak to others who have had it done. I know my little brother in law(who is just 20) had 4 of his out recently and he is doing great.
My 15 year old neice had five teeth removed and she was fine.
Of course, surgery for the first time is scary but I want to assure you that it's not.
I find it very relaxing. You will be in the best of care.
Try not to worry about it. Think pleasant thoughts. Sometimes the drs. and nurses joke around with you to help relax you.
Just think of it has having a nice sleep while they fix up your mouth.
Good luck : ) Keep smiling.......your teeth will be beautiful

Um....yes its going to hurt; but not so much you wont live. People get their wisdom teeth pulled everyday and live to see the dentist again. You'll pull through, just take it one day at a time. Plus, once you start taking the pain meds; it dulls it so much that you cant feel it. If you have wisdom teeth that have not surfaced (still inside of gums) then the dentist will knock you out and it will be a major surgery; you'll wake up wondering what happened and all is well. Otherwise, if they have come out, then you stay awake, the dentist numbs you, and your head gets banged around while he yanks them out. It may be dramatic, you wont feel a thing, but if your scared have someone you trust there to hold your hand or be there to help you through.

Don't wait....the longer you do the more problems you have. I wish my parents had taken mine out when I was young. I had all 4 taken out plus I had to have three more that had been crowned and the crowns fell off....I did it as an outpatient at a local hospital. My surgeon was great and although I was a bit sick the next day from the anesthesia I was never in any real pain. I followed all his suggestions and I did live on soup and flavored mashed potato's for a couple of weeks. It wasn't fun, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just have someone to hold your hand and you'll be fine. Make sure you are honest with your doctor about how you are feeling..then they can help you. Also stock up on your favorite soups!! Good luck & best wishes!!

It's okay to be scared. Did you know fear of dentist is like second, other than death. So you're not alone. I had to get my wisedom teeth cut out yesterday. It really didnt hurt it was just some presser. It's not that bad just some pain and swelling. KEEP ICE PACKS. it will reduse swelling.

They will heavily sedate you if you are very scared. When they heavily sedate you you will not be aware of anything bad happening.
After they are removed is when you will start to feel pain. They usually give people percacet or vicodin. Take the percacet if they give you an option. You'll feel great :-)

Ask for the gas from the dentist to take the edge off while you have it done. It may ache for a little while but getting all over with will be worth it.

hey i was scared to, and like you i had all of mine pulled. just call the place ahead of time and ask if you can or should take a tylenol or asprin and ask them any questions you have. but you really don't feel anything, and after words ya it is a little painful but after you get them pulled they don't bother you anymore and it feels way better than it did before you had them pulled.

Not to worry. I had mine done and when I woke up they had stitched my cheek to my jaw but in spite of that things still turned out fine. What I am trying to say is that things do not have to be perfect and they will still turn out fine.
I will say that you may want to find a good chiropractor to get your jaw back in align after your gums heal up. It will help you to avoid headaches.
