I think Sony generally is a better make and if I were you, I'd go with that.
I have just bought my fella the Sony KDL-40W2000 and he is well impressed with it. The picture is great and the set looks smart!
Have you had a look on Whichtv website. They can usually offer pretty good comparisons and ratings.

the sony tv is better. My uncle own the sony that you are talking about actaully. It is so good, and the picture quality is absolutely amazing! You should go with the sony, it also has reputation of excellence and reliability
