Everyone else seems to protest. We can do the same to begin to get attention to this problem before it evolves into bloodshed. One way is everyone begin not going to work on Fridays. Use a vacation day, one at a time but let people know what you are doing it for. If that doesn't work after a month, lets add Mondays to this. If the movement was to catch on and the production of this country began to wane, the upper management would notice and start putting pressure on the politicians they have in their pocketbooks to do something quickly. I would think that if this was to go on for about 3 months, that would do the trick. All you folks that say stupid things like "they will just hire the illegal aliens etc." I don't believe that would happen. Also, don't just sit around on that extra day off. Get out and express your concerns, picket known places that hire illegals. You know they want to keep a low profile and they will do what they can to stop it. Be legal about it though.

Maybe you're right. But if others can band together and protest, that is what we would have to do. Also, if you use a vacation day, they can't very well fire you. It is in how much you believe in the cause.

The cost of labor for the vegetables is so miniscule in comparison to the transportation and middleman costs, that it has been shown to only increase the price a few cents. Not afraid for me. Afraid for the illegal aliens that are going to be harmed before this is all over with.

There Is NO SIMPLE SOLUTION To This Mess
The Only Solution Will Be A Shooting Solution
Think About It
There Is A Good Possibility Of That Happening
My Guess-timation
75 Percent Yes
25 Percent No
When ?
Within The Next Ten Years ...
... Before 2015
How Will It Start ?
One Of Two Ways ...
The US Government Capitulates
To The Demands Of 20 - 30 Million ILLEGAL ALIENS
And Their Advocates,
Whereupon 260 Million Armed, Irate American Citizens
Challenge The Governments Decision
Putting The Citizens Into An OFFENSIVE Stance
And Taking The LAW Into Their Own Hands
As Is Their Constitutional Right To Do So As US Citizens
OR
The US Government Capitulates
To The Demands Of 260 Million Armed, Irate American Citizens
Whereupon 20 - 30 Million ILLEGAL ALIENS
And Their Advocates,
Challenge The Governments Decision
AND The 260 Million Armed, Irate American Citizens
Putting The Citizens Into A DEFENSIVE Stance
And Taking The LAW Into Their Own Hands
As Is Their Constitutional Right To Do So As US Citizens
Take Your Pick
Why Do YOU Think The Administration Is Flipping Out ??
Reps AND Dems Alike ??
Theyre Sitting On Top Of A Barbed-Wire Fence
With A Hotbed Of Unreasonable Demands By ANARCHISTS
To Fall Into On One Side
And A Hotbed Of Angry Citizens On The Other
Either Way They Decide
There Will Be Consequences
What Would YOU Do If YOU Were The Boss (US Govt)
During A National Crisis Of This Magnitude ??
The Only Solution Will Be A Shooting Solution
UNLESS
( The 25 Percent NO )
The ILLEGAL ALIENS Agree
To Turn Themselves In For Deportation
Or
They Deport Themselves
The Chances Of That Happening
Are FAR LESS Than 25 Percent
BUT
I'll Give Them The Benefit Of The Doubt
To REALIZE That EITHER Way The Chips Fall ....
WE THE PEOPLE
Will KEEP Our NATION In ONE PIECE
All 50 States Intact
And
NO LIVING ILLEGAL ALIENS Will Remain In The Nation
WE THE PEOPLE Will Send Our Message
To The Rest Of The World
That The Sovereignty Of The USA
Will Be CHALLENGED At Your Own Peril
WE THE PEOPLE Will Draw The Line In The Dirt
And DARE ANYONE To Cross It
OPPOSE THE NAU
STOP The NAFTA Superhighway
DEFEND The SOVEREIGNTY

I think bumper stickers are great things...you drive around, and you'll see like the little jesus-fishy that people put on their car, why not make an icon that represents a better border, or just says 'support border enforcement' etc.? Put the money from that directly INTO the US Border Patrol, and write to your local schools, community colleges etc. about having teach-ins on the impact of illegal immigration on the United States. I saw a good segment on Youtube that talked about it...guy did a demonstration with gumballs, illustrating global population growth, and how its' exponential increase is impacting the world.
People probably think I'm an idiot for repeating the same fact over and over again, but today there's 6.6 billion people in the world. The 20th century began with barely over 1 billion. So, the entire history of mankind took up until the late 1800's/early 1900's to hit that first billion, and now all that has multiplied 6 times over.
That's 6 times the energy consumption, 6 times the resource consumption, 6 times the waste, 6 times the basic problems that 1.1 billion people faced a century ago. So far, we're still managing, but there's been some countries where there's been a total breakdown, others where it's only been partial, but at the end of the day, 2/3 of the world or more live in pretty much abject poverty, and there's no end to the demand for aid etc.
I say 'bring more facts to the table', because the more that is known about what's going on, the better it'll end up getting handled, at the end of the day. I think the people in Congress already know that there's a high interest in seeing the issue directly addressed, the last Congress DID pass the border fence bill, the people DO have a voice, which is important and directly relevant on this, and some states are already leading the way in pushing for new ways to deal with the issue.
We live in the 21st century now, it kind of stands to reason that centuries-old approaches might not be totally effective in addressing our Brave New World. So, that's what amendments are for, that's what voting is for, and the sooner we do the latter, the sooner we'll see the former...
Other countries need to take issue with their own problems, too, instead of just trying to get more money out of the USA, they need to gather their own volunteers, and DO what's needed to run their own countries better.

Cheeks, I do not know what country you are from but you do not sound like you were born and raised in the United States, based on the question you asked. Well, here are answers. 1. Why do most Americans dislike illegal aliens? All US Citizens (naturalized and native born) are supposed to be against illegal immigration because they entered this country illegally. They are not US Citizens so they cannot affect or influence US policy or law. All non-US Citizens need permission from the federal government to enter, live, work, or study in the US. That is the law. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Americans who feel they should just enter the country illegally because they are trying to find a better way of life (escape poverty, oppression, religious freedom, etc.). That is still no reason to break the law. 2. In your observation, you have noticed there are a lot of Americans who hold zero tolerance for foreigners who live in the USA. This is not true; there are Americans who are very biased against foreigners but not most Americans. The same exist in other countries as well. So do not confuse this with being biased against illegal immigration. There is a difference. 3. You just want to know why Americans tend to have an inclination to dislike foreigners. Read number 2 again. 4. So, why do we tend to dislike illegal aliens? Hmmm, Mizzshopper said it better: Would you like someone crossing over the borders illegally? Border patrol and immigration control is part of basic national defense. If all countries can have this then why can the United States defend its borders? To be fair, not all illegal immigrants participate in hard crimes (gang warfare, organized crime, drug trafficking, child prostitution, female slave trade, murder, and terrorism) but a substantial portion do and they only exacerbate the already existing domestic crimes. Even if they do not commit hard crimes, they still entered this country illegally.

You can protest. A lot of people do! Why do you think you cannot protest? Mainly though, protesting is a big business and it takes a lot of logistics and money to put people on the line to protest.
THE REAL PROBLEM is money and the two disparate economies in the US and in Mexico. In simple terms, the US economy SUCKS (like a vacuum cleaner) and the Mexican economy BLOWS (like a leaf blower). Thus ... the incentive for illegal immigration. There will have to be many parts to resolve the problem. A. Make it easier to ingress and egress the USA with legitimate registration and I.D. B. Make it financially attractive to illegals to return to Mexico (by fines as well as incentives to leave "carrot and stick" ). C. Make it legally difficult for employers to hire illegals. D. Encourage Mexico to develop its middle class to encourage its own lower classes with more prosperity. E. Maintain a solid border that slows illegal crossing (must also work with "A" above). F. Develop cross border policies with Mexico to encourage Mexico's interest in helping with the problem. Currently - the 10 or 12 MILLION illegals in the USA are frozen into the country. It is too costly to round them up and bus them out. The system is not functioning well enough to allow them to leave (because they want to come back at some point, but they know if they leave - coming back is not likely).
So.. we can protest all we want, but the economic reality is there are now millions of illegals and UNDOCUMENTED aliens in our country - most performing some level of service that the citizens seem to accept. Some of the ideas noted above can begin to get these millions of people into a documented and legal relationship with the USA.

Because America likely had a hand in the economic forces that handicapped these illegal immigrants' respective native countries and it would be hypocritical to ignore this fact by protesting here.
(Also, Americans don't work the jobs that "aliens" do because their standards of living have been too greatly influenced by our capitalist government. Americans are taught to want more than they need and low-end paying jobs certainly do not afford that way of thinking. Due to the dismal amount of opportunities in some other countries, what you or I might see as a waste of time could, in someone else's eyes, very well be an excellent chance to feed and shelter a family - even if just barely.)
P.S. Bloodshed? Sounds like you've just got the juices in you to kill anyone with darker skin. A great way to object to a large group of people willing to work for less pay is to take more time off. (smirk) The American work ethic pales in comparison to that of the people in many other countries already.

Enoch Powell voiced his concerns in the 60s and 70s ( a tad colourfully perhaps). He was branded a racist. In this policiaclly correct world we live in here in the UK, anyone can call you what they want, but if you are British and white, forget trying to do anything even vaguely similar.
Even the distribution of macrabre photos of some poor sod who literally lost his head on a fence in NY has been classed as racist. This is totally asinine, these photos would have been distributed even if the poor guy was white.

You can protest. It's protected by the 1st Amendment.
Just make sure you get all the permits from the city and/or country where you're gathering/marching, so you don't get dispersed by the police.
Also, if everybody skipped work on Friday, there would be a LOT more jobs for the illegal immigrants to take, since almost everyone would be fired.

Yes, protest. But keep in mind next time you go to lunch, who made that salad possible for you to enjoy. Or who made it possible for the produce section at your local supermarket or that clean hotel room possible too. Guess who put the roof on your house,or poured the foundation? It makes me laugh when people whine and moan about illegals taking jobs away from native born Americans.
Hmmm. When was the last time I saw a white person bending over in a field in the hot blazing sun picking and packing fruit and veggies for about $8.00 an hour? I better stand back or I might get run over from the stampede of native born Americans rushing to do manual work for about minimum wage and sometimes not even that! Illegals DON'T get free medical care! HELLO! ILLEGAL! They don't get food stamps or housing whatsoever.
They also know that if they go to a hospital, they'll get reported to police and detained for Border Patrol to be deported after they come out. And eventhen, they still receive the bill for services rendered. Illegals come here to work for the season, send money home and leave to do it all over again next year. They bring in billions into the economy and still get cheated on a decent wage.
