So I tried the spray bottle method training my cat to stay off stuff. I did it just as I was told-sprayed only her feet, gave treats and petting for good behavior, and tried to keep spraying to a minimum. This morning I woke up and ther's a big pile of crap in the floor in front of the litter box. She has ALWAYS used her box. Guess this isn't the greatest method after all. Has she won or is there anything else? I'm not going to hit my cat.

you can only scold a cat when it does something wrong there and then.

Well, you can't teach an animal in just a few days. You have to keep at it. I don't know exactly what your problem is, but if it is with the cat getting on things, use a product called boundry, or if it is biting or something, try spraying directly in the face, then scold by saying NO. This method does work, I have used it on my dogs and cats. Just keep tring!

Good Luck!

The pile of crap might have been an accident. I don't think they make the
litter boxes big enough for cats. My cats often leave little presents outside
the box by accident. I would suggest that you keep on doing what you are
doing. Not all cats respond to the spray bottle but it won't hurt to try. You
may have to change your attitude to allow for your cat's personality. I had
one who did exactly what she wanted, always. She has grown up to be a
wonderful loving cat. She just knows her own mind. We have accepted
each other as we are.

My cat and I get along fine. This poop outside the litter box happened with my cat two times. She would get in the open box and get her rear to close to the edge of the box. The feces fell on the floor. I just dismissed as an accident. She was a nice cat.

the best thing u can do to keep ur cat away from things u dont want it laying on or scratching or bothering in any manner is any thing with the sint of wintergreen its a strong pleasent smell to us but to cats its a no go sign,it will not hurt them in any way its just strong to their sences and they will stay away from the smell...thus there for solveing ur problem with them getting on to furniture ect....but the pile of crap sounds like a pay back move then again it could have been cause of the wet feet made the litter stick or hurt ur cats pads on its feet causeing uncomfort in useing her litter pan...but try the winter green i have 11 cats and it works wonders for me

Try taking a clean empty soda can and put some dried beans inside, then cover the hole with duct tape. This makes a very loud rattle. You can shake it when the cat is doing something you don't want her to. The noise startles the cat and gets her attention away from the bad behavior.

LOL! Sounds like she won! My cat used to poop in the middle of the bed if I scolded her. She finally got over it and now just gives me go to h**l looks. Welcome to the wonderful world of cats! Good luck!

This is something I always suspected - most cats respond positively only to praise and treats and attention...
