I look for reasonably obvious signals from a woman (a smile, proper eye contact, etc) to determine if she is interested.

I find that especially with women that I work with, I can get along really well with them, have them laughing etc but if I ask them to lunch during work, they seem to back off. I don't make it come across as a date, it's more like 'hey do you wanna grab something to eat?'

Just curious if I'm not being forward enough, or if my initial conversations aren't that great? What do you ladies think?

Any ideas on how I should approach these work situations to have a better outcome?

I would never again go out with someone I worked with,it can get yucky, however if you asked a couple of them and all go together no pressure and I would do that.

I look everyone in the eye when I speak to them doesn't mean I've got the hots for them though

It is really difficult for a woman to determine if guys just want to be friends or if they are looking for something more.
Some women do not get involved with men that they work with and this applies to meetings outside of the office as well...lunch date or not!
Maybe you can try NOT asking anyone to lunch...at least for a while. Don't even suggest any thing of the nature.
In today's world if a woman wants you she will approach you. So just continue doing what you are doing, making them laugh etc. but stay away from out-of-the-office meetings unless the woman suggests it.
You'd be surprised!
Good Luck

its never good to have a romance with people you work with because it could lead to a sexual harrassment suit. i would look for a romance outside of work, but you are doing all else good. i would go grab something to eat with you.
