That's because so many main roads lead to Lafayette. During early trade days it was where much of Louisiana's trade was brought to be later shipped to other areas of the united states and the world

Lived in LA all my life and have never heard it referred to it as the hub city. But my guess would be because it is in the middle of the south of the state between the coastal borders of Mississippi and Texas.

I really don't know, It should be called Cajun and Creole town...I thought hub city is a dumb name but we are also known as "the flats"...also, we have the BEST FOOD, must beautiful people, real zydeco, and etc
